Anytime & Formal night

Just wondering how this really works out vs traditional and formal nights?
If you have chosen Anytime dining, then you have a choice on formal nights of going to the Anytime dining main dining rooms on decks 5 / 6 (most ships) which have formal night dress, or to go casual (or however you feel like dressing) at the buffet / Cafe Caribe / pizza / grill venues.

The pay extra restaurants have their own guidelines which may vary - some CC posters say casual is allowed, others have posted that the Maitre'D has requested more formal attire.

No difference. If you have traditional, you go to your assigned seating in the traditional dining room. If you have anytime, you go to one of the anytime dining rooms sometime during the dinner period. It's the same dress code (formal or smart casual).

On any night, you can avail yourself of the other venues (specialty dining room, Horizon court buffet, outside pizzeria or grill, etc.) whether you have t.d. or a.d. We haven't eaten in the specialty dining rooms, so can't answer about the dress code there, but others will. You can wear shorts or even a tux in the buffet or the poolside grill if you wish (we have seen formal wear in the buffet).

The guidelines on The Princess website say that the nightly dress code applies to specialty restaurants so they are formal on formal night. Of course as with any dress code matter, it is solely dependent on who you encounter prior to seating.

Formal nights should have no impact on the dining venue, TD vs. AD, and the dining venue shouldn't be affected by formal night.

However, it has been our experience that early seating TD people tend to get "involved" in photo sessions, miss their appointed dining period and then crash the AD creating substantial wait times.

We tend to book our specialty dining on formal nights and dress as the mood suits us.

Enjoy!
