pier Posted April 29, 2012 #1 Share Posted April 29, 2012 Our last three cruises have been on Oceania, and we've been spoiled. We see a cruise we're really interested in that's on the Eurodam. Please let us know if you've been on the Eurodam recently, and if you enjoyed it. This looks like a great forum. I'm sorry I didn't check it out sooner! skooter35 Posted April 29, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 29, 2012 We sailed on the Eurodam during spring break and absolutely LOVED our time. We never came across any crew memeber who didnt smile and say hello. Even the person with a bucket of soapy water washing down a wall. We reserved a Lido Cabana for the week and that was money well spent. We always found chairs when we wanted to be in the sunshine at the aft pool. We only ate in the MDR and the lido buffet for lunch. Loved room service for breakfast out on our verandah. The Eurodam is a very clean ship, we loved every minute. Here is the link to my full review. Happy Sailing!!! http://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/memberreview.cfm?EntryID=100027
Typhoon1 Posted April 29, 2012 #3 Share Posted April 29, 2012 Eurodam is a great ship. We have sailed her twice. If Art interests you, we think the Eurodam has the best onboard art collection of the HAL fleet.
Mjjpower Posted April 30, 2012 #4 Share Posted April 30, 2012 Just sailed on the Eurodam a few weeks ago and wrote a lengthy review. We loved the ship and the staff onboard.
Rinderoo Posted April 30, 2012 #5 Share Posted April 30, 2012 Was on for spring break and really enjoyed it. Not too excited about the production shows, but that doesn't mean I won't sail HAL again. Despite the entertainment not being my style, i loved the dining, the Retreat Cabana and the crew. Next time I'll book a large oceanview for our family of four though. That balcony was mighty small at night.

Krazy Kruizers Posted May 3, 2012 #7 Share Posted May 3, 2012 If you do choose to cruise on the Eurodam -- do try the Tamarind Restaurant -- $15 per person.
DFD1 Posted May 3, 2012 #8 Share Posted May 3, 2012 Sailed Eurodam in January. Excellent cruise. Lovely ship and great staff and crew. KK is right about Tamarind. Don't miss it.

sugarcharlie Posted May 4, 2012 #10 Share Posted May 4, 2012 Got off the Eurodam April 1st and had such a great time I booked a cruise five days later on another HAL ship. I had a group of 13 friends and family and there wasn't one of us that was disappointed about anything. The staff pampered us completely and the Retreat Cabana, a private area is something that only the Eurodam and NAmsterdam have, so if you sail get one early because they will often be sold out months before departure date. The Pinnacle Grill A+ the Tamarind A++ Earlier posts about vibrations amounted to nothing significant. Enjoy your cruise and let us know your experience when you return! We just sailed on the Eurodam across the Atlantic and ended in Rome April 27th. We had a wonderful cruise!! The ship is beautiful. Our cabin was roomy - Deluxe Verandah. Food was delicious. If you have any specific questions, please let me know and I will try to answer them. Of course the crew are so nice and friendly - mostly Indonesian and they bend over backwards to serve you with a smile. I wanted to adopt my DR servers. LOL. Nautica 12 days Mediteranean in summer 2007 and 10 day Regatta in the Carribean in 2009. We sailed the Rotterdam last November for 13 days and were a little unsure of what to expect because both of our Oceania experiences were very positive. There are many things about Oceania that I prefer over HAL but I was quite happy on HAL. In fact we depart May 11 for 22 days aboard the Eurodam. This waill be the largest ship we have sailed on. We had booked a similar itinerary on Oceania but switched to HAL because the price difference just didn't make sense to us. I like the more inclusive aspect of Oceania (free cappucino and espresso) and the smaller ships. I also prefer the country club casual over the more formal traditional cruising. I will be happy to report back in early June. Jim
DFD1 Posted May 5, 2012 #13 Share Posted May 5, 2012 Many passengers have adapted a country club casual attitude on HAL as well. Lots of passengers do not take formal wear anymore.
Mary Ellen Posted May 5, 2012 #14 Share Posted May 5, 2012 Our last three cruises have been on Oceania, and we've been spoiled. One thing HAL has hands down over Oceania is that anyone can order a hot breakfast from room service. You don't need to be in a 'concierge' or higher cabin to do so. On HAL if you want something not already on the hot breakfast menu, like Eggs Benedict, you can write that in - as long as your are scheduling a delivery time during the hours the MDR is open. If you aren't smokers, Oceania's smoking policy is far superior. On HAL some have found they have been 'smoked out' of their verandah. If you are smokers, you'll find more places to smoke on HAL. BTW, HAL does indeed offer free cappucino and espresso in the MDR with meals.

We really noticed the smoke from some balcony neighbours on our last HAL cruise. Yes, the cappacino and espressos are free in the MDR during meals but no where else. This next cruise I am leaving my tux at home and taking a black jacket and tie for the formal dinners and we may just skip some of them.
fuzzywuzzy Posted May 5, 2012 #16 Share Posted May 5, 2012 I hope to have my trip report completed asap on our TA cruise on the Eurodam. We just returned home two days ago after having a 3 day post cruise stay in ROME!! WOW - what a place. This was our first TA cruise and our first time in Europe so I have lots of hints and tips and experiences to relate. There is one small area in the casino that allows smoking on Eurodam. Other than that I never noticed smoke from our balcony at all. It was wonderful. The lounges and bars tucked in here and there are lovely with the many huge live flower arrangements on board lends itself to a beautiful atmosphere not to mention the live orchids on all the Lido DR tables and in every public washroom. lovetocruise2020 Posted May 5, 2012 #17 Share Posted May 5, 2012 -Tamarind Dinner -Tamarind Lunch -Book a Retreat (or Lido if you might be in bad weather) cabana. (we try and get both so we are covored in case of weather) -Bring your favorite wine or champagne -You can order any liquor from ships services, not just whats online. Really reasonable. Like $20-$30 a bottle average. You can bring all of your own mixers -Hot Breakfast for room service, anything you want from the MDR after they open -White linen fine room service (or course by course as well if you want in your suite) -Canaletto- They aim to please. We always get chicken, shrimp and garlic added to our Linguine Alfredo (not on menu but they have it you just have to tell them what you want) Lasagna is great. We always request a side of meatballs. -BOOK A DELUXE SUITE (if you can) the perks are amazing. If you are looking for a deal, try and upgrade to a Deluxe Suite after final payment. I do not think there is on bad Deluxe Suite on the Eurodam. -Dont miss the dessert event, we always do. Never seen it. :( -Try the chocolate purse, or two. Don't forget about the hot chocolate crossiants. -If you book a deluxe suite, I have another list for you. ;)
detroit70 Posted May 6, 2012 #18 Share Posted May 6, 2012 We were on the Eurodam the first week of March and had a wonderful experience. We got a last minute upsell to a deluxe verandah suite and it was worth every penny--the Neptune Suite with its continual supply of appetizers, baked goods and coffee that was better than anywhere else on the ship; the concierges, Bien and Char, who greeted us warmly by name every time they saw us and took care of every need or wish that we gave them; access to dining reservations of our choice; plenty of space in our cabin including a second closet and a 'dressing room' outside the bathroom, and a large balcony with a table and chairs for eating plus a couple easy chairs. And something no one else has had to mention, but we found that the medical care was also excellent when my spouse was confined to the ship's hospital for 20 hours with pneumonia. We are still grateful for the skilled, caring and thoughtful medical staff on the Eurodam. It's a great ship with a fine staff!
Bippie Posted May 6, 2012 #19 Share Posted May 6, 2012 Have you checked out the cruise reviews on Cruisecritic.com? You'll find even more (and diverse) opinions from past cruisers on the Eurodam. My review is there but, to be brief, I had a wonderful cruise.
fuzzywuzzy Posted May 6, 2012 #20 Share Posted May 6, 2012 Yes, as one poster mentioned, the dessert extravaganza is a sight to behold. It is held around the Lido pool area at about 10:00 pm near end of cruise. Amazing!! There are so many things going on, it's hard to choose. I went to a few computer classes which were great. Very informative taught by a really nice young man. He was so knowledgeable.
