Leaving Ship after Embarkation

A question for anyone who has started a cruise in Venice. We are due to sail shortly from Venice, and have an early flight, which means we shall probably be on board Spendour at lunchtime. We would like to make a quick visit to a shop we once found near the Sclalzi bridge, at the port end of the Grand Canal. Having gone through embarkation, how easy is it to leave the ship afterwards, exit the port gates and return before the departure deadline??

Last October we departed Venice on the Holland America Line. We checked our luggage at a small building near the terminal entrance and then walked about 200 yards to the terminal to actually complete the check in process. I do not know what time they start to accept luggage, but consider checking in your luggage, and then doing your shopping. Skip lunch on board or eat a late lunch. Check in later in the afternoon when there will probably be fewer crowds.

Enjoy

Thanks Everyone - by the time our coach arrives from the airport, they should be accepting luggage, so we'll drop that off and then walk across to the shops. Just wondered if there would be a problem re-entering the port gates!

Thanks again.
