Agocruisin Posted May 1, 2005 #1 Share Posted May 1, 2005 Hello, My mother-in-law just booked a last-minute NCL Spirit May 14 with port calls in Juneau, Skagway and Ketchikan. This is her first cruise and she is traveling alone. As you can imagine it is a bit overwhelming (and exciting!). We are having a hard time narrowing down the choices for shore tours. Does anyone have specific tour recommendations for us? She is in good health but tires from walking easily; she enjoys photography & history. Thanks very much for any help you can provide! wolfie11 Posted May 1, 2005 #2 Share Posted May 1, 2005 Juneau - helicopter w/glacier landing (maybe dogsled?) Skagway - definately train ride plus add on to Liar's Camp? Ketchikan - misty fjords flightseeing Of course, each one of these probably costs about half the cruise cost!!!!
CruiseIsGood Posted May 1, 2005 #3 Share Posted May 1, 2005 Wolfie has excellent suggestions, my favorites, but it would be better if she chooses what she thinks would be fun, then you can ask if it's too strenuous. For instance, the canoe to Mendenhall sounds strenuous, but my mother didn't have to row. It helps to narrow down the choices a bit, then ask for more details. Budget Queen Posted May 2, 2005 #4 Share Posted May 2, 2005 You still need to narrow down your interests and repost. The choices are just TOO many. A great many excursions could be done, so get looking at the list again and have her pick her top 5 choices in each port, then repost- for first hand information. :)
