We are going to AK 8/9 and arrive late that nite. Get to lodge and are there until Monday 8/13. Looking for things to do in Skagway/Ketch and Juneau. Of course Denali too but already have two things pre-paid from cruise line and honestly don't remember what they are. One is that Natural History tour that seems to take all day. We DO want to do a flight thing of some kind and glacier land/dog camp and some bike stuff. Any thoughts from prev cruisers? Also want to check out Red Onion Saloon....can one get there without a tour?

You might want to recheck your Denali paperwork. The Natural History Tour only goes to Mile 17 of the 100 miles of park road, so if you were expecting an all day trip of scenery and wildlife, you'll be disappointed.

As for activites at the other ports, it depends on your interests, activity level and budget. Why don't you start with your ship's excursion list and tell us what sounds appealing if you want some feedback?

The most popular activity in Juneau is whale watching along with a trip to Mendenhall Glacier. Skagway a trip to the Yukon either by train and/or bus, or rental car. Ketchikan bear viewing, Misty Fjords, totem parks, city walking tour.

Frankly, the highlight of your cruisetour, is Denali. Be certain, you know the details, now, while there is still time for adjustments, if you need them. Are you coming into Fairbanks?

As already suggested, there are hundreds of excellent port tours to consider, wide range of activities and costs. And no way to know where you are with this decision? So, narrow down your interests and repost for details.
