Ginger Pop Posted June 2, 2012 #26 Share Posted June 2, 2012 We are in an S2 on Silhouette June 24th from Venice. Thank you so much for your pictures. We took the S2 after prices went down from a 1A. Never having been to Europe, can you give us more ideas of excursions you did? At first we wanted to do 6 and then cut it down to 3 so we could enjoy the ship. It is our 15th X cruise. hillsprint Posted June 3, 2012 Author #27 Share Posted June 3, 2012 Ginger Just to be clear, the pics are of a S1 suite not a S2, so it's a totally different shape and size. Our itenary was slightly different than the "standard Venice" Solstice trip, but I'll comment on the order we visited the ports Naples - Took the ferry to Capri ourselves, it's right beside the cruise teminal - 34 euros each return Venice - Took the ship's shuttle for the first day - it drops you by St Mark's Square, so saves time. Walked to the Rialto and back, very easy, lots of alleyways, shops and photo ops. On the 2nd morning we did Murano & Burano ship's trip. It was very good, the glass blowing was fantastic and Burano is s lovely little town. Dubrovnik - Ship's shuttle to the town, then walked round Dubrovnik, did the wall walk, the ticket office is over to the right when you enter the town via the Pile Gate, then you climb the steps on the left to get up to the walls, gets the tourists confused :D Rome - We did Tarquinia ship's tour, as we've been to Rome before. Lovely little visit, great views from this hilltop town, the gelato you get at the end is really enjoyable. Florence - Did the Taste of Florence ship's tour. It was poor as the guide only had a small loud speaker, you really need to have a radio headset, but X did not order that we were told. Big queues in Florence for all the galleries etc, so it would be hard to see one on a one day visit. Interesting place to walk round, but very crowded, even in May. Ajaccio - Simply walk off the boat and you are in the middle of the city, lots to see and savour. Toulon - Did the Marseilles, Sanary sur Mer & Cassis ship's tour. Mixed feelings on this one, spent too long in Marseilles driving round the city, would have preferred longer in the two small seaside villages. But the weather was bad so the guide was probably saving us from the rain. Cheers Michael

hillsprint Posted June 3, 2012 Author #29 Share Posted June 3, 2012 We got what the tour description said, 2.5 hr guided tour ands a 3 hr period to yourself to get lunch and shop if you wish. There was a "comfort" stop at a leather factory shop on the way in. The concencous of opinion was that it stocked good quality items at a higher price. The stuff you can buy in the shops in Florence was cheaper but of a lesser quality. We didn't buy in either location so I don't have an axe to grind on this. Something to suit all pockets :)

Happy Cruiser 6143 Posted September 20, 2013 #38 Share Posted September 20, 2013 Does anyone know if the S1 Sky Suites on the Constellation are the same (size, storage space, furnished similar, etc.) as on the Solstice? The pictures from hillsprint are terrific! Thanks for sharing them. The S1s I've seen on M class ships are different. Smaller.
