Rare LAFFNVEGAS Posted June 2, 2012 #3 Share Posted June 2, 2012 NO, none of the small refigerators on the Zuiderdam have an freezer area. First off the mini frigs on any of the ships rarely make things really cold. Our past cruise on the Zuiderdam we actually were in two different cabins the first 4 days we were in an SY in 6109 and we were shocked the mini fridge kept things colder than any HAL cruise we had been on, almost shocking  :D Then we moved to SA 7052 and the fridge kept things pretty much about 5 degrees cooler than the room temp. So since we were in Alaska we just kept our sodas out on the balcony ;)
catl331 Posted June 2, 2012 #4 Share Posted June 2, 2012 When they're operating properly, the thermoelectric coolers will stay about 25 degrees below what ever you have the room temp at. If you need them colder than that, store what you don't need soon at the infirmary.
2ptu/000 Posted June 2, 2012 #5 Share Posted June 2, 2012 Never saw a freezer in room refrigerator. Some will call them coolers. They keep soda cold enough for me.
Krazy Kruizers Posted June 2, 2012 #6 Share Posted June 2, 2012 There aren't any separate freezer compartments in any of the "coolers" You may have to keep your special medications in the infirmary as there is a regular refrigerator there. Only problem with that is -- they are only open about from 8 AM until 8 PM.
Typhoon1 Posted June 2, 2012 #7 Share Posted June 2, 2012 There is a common misconception about the so called refrigerators. More accurately, they are described as "cool boxes"
Orangeguy Posted June 2, 2012 #8 Share Posted June 2, 2012 Just off the Westerdam this morning... I would not trust the "cooler" with keeping my medications cool. I noticed that the temperatures varied greatly, but sometimes it would take all day to cool a can of soda. Contact ship services in Seattle and I'm sure they are prepared to handle refrigeration of medications.
PathfinderEss Posted June 3, 2012 #9 Share Posted June 3, 2012 My only thought is like the OP, try the infirmary, because you have no freezer in the in room refrigators. They can hardly keep a coke cold.
