John Heald's back and forth statements are killing me

So my family and I were booked on Carnival Splendor for Nov. When I booked my PVP told me that as long as I reach 10 cruises by Dec 2013 I would be able to attain platinum under the old system. Then a few months later I read on John's Facebook page that people who do not have at least 8 cruises by June 25 will not receive the 18 month extension. So I call my PVP, she apologizes about her misinformation and explains that yes, 8 cruises sailed by June 25. Well, this nov. cruise was to be my 8th. So I canceled that 7 night cruise and paid more for a 3 night cruise on June 22 which will be complete on June 25. Now I just read on John's Facebook page that everyone will have until the end of 2013 to achieve platinum under the old way (10 cruises). He's killing me. I'm not complaining about what's being lost, I would just like to achieve platinum any way they tell me. Just tell me the correct way and I will do it.

So just so I understand, you switched your reservations from a 7 night to a 3 night that actually cost more than the 7 night so you could obtain platinum.

 

Am I the only one that realizes your probably paid out more than some silly loyalty benefits will ever give you. For what? So you can say your platinum and have a different colored key? It just makes no sense to me.

From what i gather... When the info was leaked there was such a backlash that the beards decided to give everyone a grace period till dec 2013 to obtain 10 cruises for platinum status.. Not JH fault hes just the voice of the carnival beards.. If they change info or there minds its not his fault.. Any way whats so great about platinum status that would cause everyone to book another cruise or 2 just to get it.. Its just me but im not spending a xtra grand or 2 just to move up levels..

You should have waited until official word came out instead of going on a bunch of rumors. though seriously other than the laundry why does it matter?

I wasn't commenting on wether or not the 10 cruises is worth the platinum benefits. I understand that this may seem crazy to purchase a cruise for platinum status, in the same way my wife spends a grand to much on a Louis Vuitton handbag. She feels like its worth it for her, as i would like to reach platinum for me. My frustration lies in the fact that what Carnival is stating keeps changing. This is not a small mom and pop operation. This is a huge corporation. I'm fine if the rules are a certain way. It's frustrating that there seems to be no rules. It all just changes on a whim, and that some people actually are making changes According to these constantly changing policies.

People should not wait at the feet of John Heald for every direction and word. He's simply a cruise director you know?

 

We've heard many rumors from CD and even ship captains that did not come to fruition. Don't be so gullible people.

Honestly it's just about the priority embark and debark. We have a two and four year old and both of those times are extremely trying on our cruise experience. We spent over an hour waiting to get off the ship in the Casino on the Spirit with the kids trying to keep them from running around. We waited in our room to help with this until they literally kicked us off. I would love to just get the heck off the ship that last day. If it were just me and my wife, we could just sit back and relax until its our turn. So yeah, I would have paid $200 bucks to get off the ship that day. We had a great week, but were all done. Again, something that may be worth it for our family, most likely not for other families.

OK, maybe if you haven't ever sailed with him..your tone would be relevant. He does an amazing job answering to every whim that is forwarded. My husband & I are plat on princess and 7 and counting with Carnival. Until the official word comes down I won't waste time or energy on the loyalty program. But I will defend his set of skills that most of us don't have, till the cows come home.

Why were you kicked out of your cabin?

 

We just got of the Enchantment of the Seas yesterday morning and we were allowed to stay in our stateroom until our luggage was available at the dock.

 

They called our tag color/number and we walked righ off the ship.

That's my favorite perk too Joe, and with young children totally get that! It is sometimes fun and sometimes frustrating to get info before it's official, especially at a big corporation...because they can change on a dime. In this case, they took the feedback from the leak and tried to do something to make it a little sweeter to those almost platinum by giving everyone 18 months to get to Plat no matter how many they have right now. In your case it definitely backfired! BUT you will be Platinum on the Breeze and that's awesome!!! MIA had great priority boarding:D

Thank you for your comment. And yes, we are really looking forward to the priority embark and debark on the breeze cruise as it will also be the first time flying across the country with our little guys. I am guessing that any little extra help with regards to time is going to be extremely appreciated.

Totally agree. Some people here act like he is their bff. It is very creepy.
