What's your best cruise memory?

Let's all try to remember why we love to cruise! Now, I've only been on one cruise and that was in 2009. I've got my next one booked for next June and I CANNOT wait!

My best memory from my first cruise:

We (my daughters, ages 13 and 15) did the Kayak eco tour on Grand Cayman, our first port. It was an absolutely beautiful day on a gorgeous island. There was only one other family on the excursion. Kayaking in the super clear waters off GC was fantastic and we learned something of the sea life while snorkeling.

We absolutely can't wait to cruise again.

Your turn!;)

Seeing everyone smiling when my then 9 yr-old DS walked into the dining room on elegant night in his white communion tuxedo and his spiked hair! He looked so adorable and people were just going crazy over him, taking his pictures, etc. He was so proud.:D He's 17 now and wouldn't be caught dead in a tuxedo or anything other than a collared shirt and khakis on elegant night!

I have 3 memories.

1. My honeymoon was on the Sensation. My DH had never taken a vacation before. When we arrived at the ship he was quiet, which is odd for my DH. Well we get on the ship and all I hear is “baby look at this “baby look at that” “baby they have food outside” baby how many levels on this ship” He was having sensory overload. I had to force him to sit down after an hour of dragging me around for the first hour on the ship.

2. I took my daughter, age 15 at the time, on her first cruise last year. She insisted on having curly extensions added to her hair. When we were leaving the port her hair was blowing in the wind, she had on her bugged eyed sunglasses and a pretty sundress. She was all smiles and I have a wonderful photo to capture the moment.

3. Now on the same cruise with my daughter we went to Nassau. My daughter and her friend was trying to be a little fast. They were trying to walk either behind me or in front of me. Well after we left the port area the men were like vultures. My daughter had a beach bag with the words “cocoa beach” written on it. Well the men began cat calling them. My daughter didn’t catch on but I did quickly. Then the men gave them nicknames. My daughter was “cocoa beach” and her friend was “hersey kiss” b/c she is dark skinned. When my daughter caught on that she was “cocoa beach” her face was priceless. All of a sudden it was cool with walk with old mom. In fact my daughter was trying to hold my hand like a little child.

Sitting on the promenade in a lounge chair my first cruise and listening to the whoosh, whoosh, whoosh of the ocean. So peaceful. I can still close my eyes and take myself there; see it, smell it, hear it. I knew from that moment on I would always book a balcony (we were in an OV) in the future.

I was a young teen on my first cruise, my first time out of the Midwest, first time ever seeing a palm tree growing outdoors, first time seeing the ocean. Late on one windy night I spent two hours all by myself in a quiet spot on the Mardi Gras, leaning over the rail and simply watching the black ocean waves hitting the ship, and the white sea foam.

Leonardo without Kate, but I was king of the world.

My all time best memory was from my cruise in January 2012. We went to Belize and went Caved Tubing. Loved it. It was so beautiful. Especially the water fall inside the cave.

Another great memory was when my dh, sister and cousin and I went ATVing in Ochos Rios on our first cruise. It was my first time ATVing. Because we were so focused on staying in line we weren't really paying attention to the awesome scenery. Then at one point I looked around and we were on the side of a cliff:eek:. Crazy scary but beautiful and fun.

Lastly while this wasn't really on a ship it occurred via the Carnival Freedom. It was my beautiful wedding in St Thomas on Megan's Bay Beach! Below are a few pics! Hope you like! ry%3D400ry%3D400ry%3D400ry%3D400ry%3D400

Seeing my sons eyes when he first saw his first cruise ship, it was the fascination in Jacksonville. He was amazed. He's hooked now, just like me and my husband. Wee leave in 6 days for our next cruise, and this time we are taking out six month old baby also. :) he is going to grow into a cruise fanatic also.

Now THAT is a wedding! I'm trying to convince my daughter to go with her instincts, take off on a beautiful vacation, get married in paradise. (Mother of the groom is putting on the pressure for a gigantic traditional wedding). I'm sending her a link!

Who, and how much, did you have to tip for the picture perfect weather?

We (myself, husband, and teen son) were on another cruise line sailing to Alaska. My husband surprised us with a huge room and balcony. I remember we 3 were on the ship's deck watching the iceberg's calving. Then, "it" hit, OMG, why aren't we on our balcony watching this awesome act of Mother Nature? We quickly headed back to our room....wow...:)

Winning my first Trivia contest and that first "solid gold plastic ship on a stick." meeting so many "teammates" for the rest of the cruise.

That first taste of lobster and warm chocolate melting cake. That first Formal night and picking out just the right outfit.

This ranks pretty high up there. (Except the balcony part. Not part of that club yet!)

I am racking my brain thinking of 1000 different things that I remember from my past cruises... I cant choose. I still think that the best memory is yet to be made :D

My favorite memories would be:

1) The whole experience with the first cruise back in 2007......nothing compares to going on your first cruise. Not everything with the whole experience was positive, but it still brings back very fond memories.

2) Seeing a large pod of humpback whales from the deck of the Spirit on an Alaskan cruise.

3) Going to Panama and being on the Panama canal.

Ziplining in Costa Rica

Which will be surpassed next year when I skydive in Aruba :)

In 1992 I saw the movie Medicine Man with Sean Connery and from that day forward I decided that I wanted to visit the rainforest treetops. It was #1 on my bucket list. Jan. 2011 I was on board the Freedom and we visited Limon Costa Rica when I was able to make that dream come true. It is definitely my favorite single cruise experience.

Unlike you though, I don't think I'll ever choose to jump out of a perfectly good plane!!

My first cruise on the Queen Elizabeth. Everything was so grand from New York, streamers, the ships horn, getting lost after muster and ending up in the first class theater. We were not first class and had to use a shower down the hall.

The other was when I was 15. My brother and I were wandering the SS Florida and as I stepped through a door I forgot about the lip at the bottom and fell flat on my face. A young man and his girlfriend were right there and helped me get up. Turned out the girl was his sister. We ended up spending the entire cruise together and fell in love. He was 18 and going to Vietnam.

The relationship was off and on for the next 30 years. Now off. Fun while it lasted.

1. Kayaking the biobay in San Juan late at night, seeing the glowing blue of fish swimming-absolutely the most amazing thing I've ever seen!

2. The America's Cup Regatta excursion in St. Maarten - beautiful day, beautiful boat, so much fun.

3. Extreme ziplining in Roatan. I was scared to death, but I did it and it was exhilarating.

4. Swimming with stingrays in Grand Cayman.

I am swimming with sea turtles in Barbados on our upcoming cruise and I'm curious to see where that falls in this list!

My favorite cruise memory is the exact same thing!! DW and I got married in 2010 on Megan's Bay and it was picture perfect!

The dinner after wedding in the MDR is a close second. DW and I showed up in our wedding attire and Constantine (maiter'd) make the night so incredibly special.

Now THAT is a wedding! I'm trying to convince my daughter to go with her instincts, take off on a beautiful vacation, get married in paradise. (Mother of the groom is putting on the pressure for a gigantic traditional wedding). I'm sending her a link!

I hope there is a way you can convince her to get married on a cruise. There is nothing compared to it (This is my third)!

First night of our 1st cruise our 6yr old was tired so took him to the cabin and DH and 19yr old DS went to the casino. I was sound asleep when they came in later. The next morning I was up before everyone and sitting on the balcony when I remembered my "dream". In my dream DH and DS came into the cabin saying they had won all this money...it was great. Seemed so real. I went inside opened the room safe and there was a stack of $100!!!!! It was not a dream after all. DH won $1500 and while they were paying him off DS won $500. We booked our anniversary cruise with the money we=hen we got home. Who says dreams don't come true!
