Free Wi Fi on River cruises

Many/Most river cruise lines advertise free Wi Fi. We are booked on back to back Avalon Cruises in August/September on the Rhone River and the Rhine River. Who has had experience with the Wi Fi connections, are they good reliable and do they give regular access?
