When ordering room service on the Westerdam, can you order coffee by the carafe or pot, or can you only get it by the cup? We usually have 2 or 3 cups each in the morning.

It has always arrived in a carafe for us; usually about 1 1/2 cups each IIRC. You may want to write in 'double the coffee' :)

Not so fast....

 

If the coffee is as bad as it is on some of the other HAL ships, you might pass on it altogether.

On the Maasdam last week, it was really bad and in order to get a half way decent cup, we constantly hiked down to the internet cafe and paid for our coffee. At least it was drinkable.

Yes, we are particular about our coffee and being long time cruisers on Regent, we find their coffee to be of dubious quality as well, with the exception of the self-serve machines that spit out espresso or cappuccino.

After sailing HAL for many years, I finally ordered room service for breakfast. I ordered two coffees and got two carafes of hot coffee. Luckily it stayed warm for a long time.

Well, it's worth trying. Everyone has their own preferences and what is one man's nector is another man's poison. For example, I don't like lobster. Who doesn't like lobster??? Me :) Starbuck's coffees are also a good example. I prefer one blend which is a bold dark coffee, while a young lady who worked for me couldn't stand it. She preferred one I thought tasted like very weak watered down coffee. To each his own. We'll give it a shot. If we don't like it, I guess we'll make a run for the NL. Worst case, I'll toss in some Via and have them bring me hot water.

Room service usually brings coffee in a carafe. So being you like coffee that much I would order two carafe's. That should get you going in the morning.:D
