Truly, my pleasure. We have got a great cruise community here. Unless something happens, I think my family will be cruising for many years to come. suncityga Posted June 26, 2012 #181 Share Posted June 26, 2012 Reaching Xiamen soon..... We are enjoying your review and your great photos. Thank you ! ! ! In March 2011, we did a similar itinerary on Legends of the Seas (Singapore to Shanghai, with stops in HCMC, DaNang, HK and Xiamen)... it was a great experience. We also did 4 days in Singapore pre-cruise and we had a fantastic time in Singapore. Since you live in Singapore... we will be on Voyager of the Seas next February (Around Australia & New Zealand, then Thailand and Vietnam and ending in Singapore). Has there been any changes to the Singapore Cruise Terminal? In 2011, we used the MRT from the Swissotel Merchant Court to the Cruise Terminal without any problems... does Voyager use the same Cruise Terminal? Would the MRT option work this time from the Cruise Terminal to the Bugis MRT Station? Thanks :)

Royal Caribbean is now using the new Marina South International Cruise terminal, which started operations in May 2012. The older Harbourfront Cruise Terminal that you had experienced is still operating, but it is too small to accommodate the Voyager class. I believe Royal Caribbean has made the switch to the new Marina South international cruise terminal, even for the Legend. You would have to take a taxi to the new cruise terminal. You can see pictures of it on the first page of my review. Edited June 26, 2012 by Iluvcruising2

Iluvcruising2 Posted June 26, 2012 Author #186 Share Posted June 26, 2012 Day 7 - We would only arrive in Xiamen at 11am. The weather wasn't exactly very good. Ship was slightly rocky.
Iluvcruising2 Posted June 26, 2012 Author #187 Share Posted June 26, 2012 Breakfast in the Windjammer. I didn't take too many pictures of the Windjammer food. A lot more Asian food compared to our Brilliance cruise out of Dubai in Dec 2011. For breakfast, I could have fried rice, fried egg, some sauteed mushrooms. Iluvcruising2 Posted June 26, 2012 Author #189 Share Posted June 26, 2012 (edited) The Portofino restaurant was located beside the Windjammer. The connecting door was opened in the morning, as Portofino was used as the breakfast area for Gold Seapass card holders. Iluvcruising2 Posted June 26, 2012 Author #191 Share Posted June 26, 2012 The Captain got the ship to Xiamen on time. By now, the Voyager had sailed 1,891 nautical miles from Singapore. View of Xiamen cruise terminal from our balcony.
ChipLondon Posted June 26, 2012 #192 Share Posted June 26, 2012 Great review, fab pictures and good detail. Thanks for taking the time to post about your trip. We sailed the Far East with Royal back in 2000, so are really pleased to see the route re-introduced.
Iluvcruising2 Posted June 26, 2012 Author #193 Share Posted June 26, 2012 (edited) Ship arrived at 11am and all aboard time was 6:30pm. Our plan was to go onshore, take a taxi to a few places to sight-see, and get back to the ship. We decided to leave our kids in the Adventure Ocean as it was raining. This turned out to be a good decision. The disembarkation was horrible. Massive congestion at Deck 4 and the queues didn't seem to move. The ship had arrived at 11am and these photos were taken at around 11:45am. The gangway was at Deck 4. The queue started from the casino, all the way around the lift area and to the outside. Iluvcruising2 Posted June 26, 2012 Author #195 Share Posted June 26, 2012 (edited) After standing in line for 5 minutes, we realised that the line wasn't moving and nobody had any idea why. Some speculated that perhaps there was a jam at immigration. For this port, we had to bring our passports along as the Chinese authorities wanted to conduct a face-to-face check. (Unlike HK and Ho Chi Minh where we just brought our seapass cards) Since the line didn't move, and it was nearing noon, we decided to grab some lunch and let the queue clear first. So we proceeded to the MDR for some nice lunch. Service was very quick as there were very few passengers. We finished lunch and headed out to the gangway again. The queues were still there! However, this time the queue was moving. As we were standing in line, we still saw passengers wearing excursion stickers being led out of the La Scala theatre. It was 12:45pm! They must have been waiting in the theatre for the past 2 hours? Oh dear. The passengers didn't look pleased at all. ThirdGenCruiser Posted June 26, 2012 #196 Share Posted June 26, 2012 Crown and Anchor future cruise office. We bought our future cruise certificate. Yippee!! ;) May I ask if you booked this with a US agent? The only reason I ask is I tried getting a future cruise certificate (open booking) on Radiance of the Seas this year but was unable to when booking with Australian-based agents. I was informed they were only for US bookings. I may just have to try again to get this certificate on Voyager next year! ;) Oh, and keep the piccies coming! :D
AF-1 Posted June 26, 2012 #197 Share Posted June 26, 2012 Iluvcruisin2, all your food pics are great. I hear people complain about the food on the ships; but you did pretty well in the Windjammer and MDR.:)
nivek82 Posted June 26, 2012 #198 Share Posted June 26, 2012 Great review! Just wanted to say how much I'm enjoying your review as its not often when one from a non carribean route is done to this detail. Something that did strike me odd was what's the conversion rate HK$ to US$ cause $12 for an oreo mcflurry seams a bit high! :)
Rare ollienbertsmum Posted June 26, 2012 #199 Share Posted June 26, 2012 I am also loving the review. Neighbours have just come back from Hong Kong and telling me all about it - your pictures nicely illustrated the cable car. I am not sure that I would be happy about that cross over water though. My question is unrelated to the Far East - it is about the Top Tier event - it may sound a little naive - but what is the point of it beyond eating canapes? Is is Formal because it is on the same afternoon as the formal night of the cruise? We are first timer platinums on our next cruse in July and I am only just realising some of the extra 'perks' and working out which ones will suit us. Thanks for any advice.
