Osa Dog Posted June 22, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 22, 2012 Four stops down New England's coastline: Corner Brook Sydney Any favorites for each ? Not much into excursions here. Saint john Halifax Fisherman's Cove Peggy's cove seem to really draw attention !
maryann ns Posted June 23, 2012 #2 Share Posted June 23, 2012 All four of these ports are in Canada, not New England. There are many, many posts here. Go back to the main Ports of Call - Canada page and look for the search feature to the right of the blue bar near the top of the page. Also tell us what would interest you most - scenery, history, cities, rural villages, etc. For Sydney I recommend renting a car and going either to Baddeck and Iona OR Fortress Louisbourg. For Halifax you can easily spend your day meandering around the waterfront area. OR you could rent a car and see Peggy's Cove.

trophy_23 Posted June 26, 2012 #4 Share Posted June 26, 2012 I can't really remember what excursions were offered when we were in Cornerbrook, but there really isn't much there. We basically walked around town, then around a trail system with a pond which killed some time and was relaxing. Overall, not a whole lot to do, we should have done some sort of tour. maryann ns Posted June 26, 2012 #5 Share Posted June 26, 2012 cornerbrook is the town nearest Gros Morne National Park. I would take a tour or rent a car and go there. Check out the boat rides on Western Brook Pond. This is a fjiord with incredible scenery and birds. The cliffs rise high up on both sides. http://www.pc.gc.ca/eng/pn-np/nl/grosmorne/activ/activ2b.aspx http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gros_Morne_National_Park You would want to make a reservation for Western Brook Pond and it may be best to take a ship's tour or a private tour in order to be sure you get there. You do have to take an easy walk (3 km or 1.8 miles) to get there. http://www.cornerbrook.com/default.asp?mn=1.2 http://www.cornerbrookport.com/experiences.html http://www.cornerbrookport.com/excursions.html
