crichard312 Posted June 25, 2012 #2 Share Posted June 25, 2012 Although Mardi Gras is FEB. 12th, parades will have already started. If you try the Holiday Inn in Gretna, it my be a lot cheaper, and is a good place to stay. You will be on the other side of the river, but you will only be about a 10-15 minute cab ride from the port and about a 20 minute cab ride to the quarter. I live in New Orleans, this was all I could find going on. If a big convention is in town, it has not posted yet.

Jeano222 Posted June 27, 2012 #6 Share Posted June 27, 2012 When I was researching for Galveston, many hotels were coming up no rooms available and it was because those hotels had a 2 night minimumi
Galveston Cruiser Posted June 27, 2012 #7 Share Posted June 27, 2012 Try through one of the booking companies or call direct. Summer is generally a 2 night minimum on weekends but not winter.
crichard312 Posted June 28, 2012 #8 Share Posted June 28, 2012 Texas City is not far from Galveston, and has some great rates. Not a long drive to the port considering what you could save.

Superbowl and Mardi Gras are happening that week. Mardi Gras is the week before Superbowl. That is the reason for the extremely high prices.
