I am getting into looking around the ship tracking and spotting sites but my knowledge is limited, any suggestions would be great.

Also there is sailwx.info which is another ship tracking web site. Although quite a few ships do not report their position every day and they are still referring to Pacific Pearl as Ocean Village.
