Well that’s all for Day 5. We had to be up early to attend the mandatory immigration inspection in the Amber Palace at 6:30 am. Don’t worry this is for Non-US Citizens only..

Goodnight

Saturday, June 23rd, 2012- Debarkation

We attended the mandatory immigration inspection in the Amber Palace at 6:30 am. There were approximately 250 non-US Citizens and it took 45 minutes for custom to show up, they won’t come onboard until everyone is accounted for. Then it took another 45 minutes to check everyone.

After we were done with Customs, Mitchel surprised us with his casino winnings. He spent $10 on the Vault Machine the night before and won $100. I didn’t think he was even allowed to play.

We had our last breakfast at the Red Sail Restaurant on the Lido Deck.

We had opted for the self assist option for debarkation and left the ship after breakfast. Once back to our vehicle, we could not start our car; unfortunately we had left our cooler plugged in for the duration of our cruise. When we had arrived 5 days earlier, a bus was waiting to transport us and in our rush I forgot to unplug it. Fortunately, we found some good folks nearby who gave us a boost and we were on our way.

One last look

We drove all the way home, stopping only for dinner at one of our favorite restaurant in Bangor, Maine. ‘Bugaboo Creek’ is a Canadian theme restaurant that has in my opinion, the best ribs anywhere. They are situated in most New England States.

Overall we really enjoyed our cruise even though we cruised back to our homeland. Glory is a beautiful ship, loved her just as much as her sister ships Valor and Freedom. Well that’s it, until our next cruise on Carnival Miracle.

Wow. What a bummer that your car battery was dead when you disembarked. Back in February, I had gotten it into my head halfway through the cruise, that I possibly had left our car's headlights on while it was parked at the Port of Miami. This is because it had been drizzling lightly on our way to the port, and there is this law that reads, "wipers on, headlights on" .....So, I was driving to the port with the lights on during the day. But, when we returned to the car after the cruise, it turned out that I had not left the lights on. Yay! But, I am sure that we could have found some nice people, as you did, to give us a "jump" if needed.

Thanks for another great review. Do you, by any chance, have a copy of the lunch menu(s) from the MDR?

Thank you Judy. I'm sorry but I do not have a up to date lunch menu. The one I had did not match the lunch menu. Mike

Hey! I found me! I'm the guy peering menacingly around from behind the serenity deck fence. I've been following this review closely since we were on the same cruise (seven of us in total in our group) but I'm the first one that's made it into one of the pics, lol.

We were actually seated in the first round table to your left in the comedy show pics too. Was it your wife who said something "naughty" during the audience participation portion? That was too funny!

Yes it was my wife that said those "naughty" things.

Mike and Tracy,

We are enjoying the chance to follow your thread! We will be taking this same Canadian route (albeit out of NYC) on the Carnival Glory next July. Heretofore, we have only cruised in the Caribbean.

Seems like a route like this has had some beautiful days, but could be prone to cooler weather too. If you could take a minute and tell us, what might be some advice for different types of clothing we should plan to pack? In particular-- were there any

* "I wish we'd thought to pack..........."

* "We never even used this........"

We'll take any and all tips!

I had brought one sweater and one pair of jeans but all I wore was shorts and short sleeve shirts, Mitchel wore a hoodie and jeans at night and Arielle wore a small leather coat when it was chilly. Tracy had several sweaters, a coat and long pants. Remember she not a true Canadian, even after 19 years in Canada she still hasn't gotten used to our colder climate. Like you said you never know what the weather will be like, the past few weeks have been warm with temperatures ranging between 70 and 90 degrees. Hope this helps and if you have any more questions I'll be happy to answer them. Mike

bummer about the battery..but on the plus side it beats having a battery freeze..had that happen once...real joy installing a new battery at 40 below...so cold I did not clamp it down...tipped and hit the fan blade on the way home..so bought 2 batteries on the same day..the joys of Canadian winters....

so hot last week I wore shorts to work one day..girls in the office got a restraining order so that was it for that

enjoy your next cruise..ours if finally booked..Splendour to Mexico...

(re Ibanez) Yea, I read that review too and I remember there was SOMEONE that a poster was comparing you to...but he wasn't with the Yankees yet, so it didn't connect. Loving your pictures, esp. the one of you and Tracy and her little black dress. Just gorgeous and you look like you are on a Caribbean cruise, not a cruise to Canada! You are going to LOVE the Miracle!

Having been on Pride I sure we'll love Miracle just as much. :)

Mike awesome review as always :-) I can't believe it's been 2 years since your B2B2B2B it's nice to see how the kids have grown and so gracious that you and Tracy share your family adventures. About Tracy's little black dress.... she looks GREAT in it I don't blame you for it being your favorite. Can't wait to read the rest have a great weekend. Carla

Thank you so much Carla, another reason to go on cruises is so I can see Tracy in those sexy dresses. :D

As always, loved your report. I've only written a couple and they were no where as detailed as yours, but I know from experience it's a lot of work. Thank you for taking time out of your busy life to share your adventures with us !! Will be looking forward to your next report.

I was wondering when you were in port, did you see anyone from the ship using a scooter or wheelchair ?? I would love to do this Canadian cruise but wondered how handicap friendly the ports were.

Thanks again for a great report.

I originally started to read this thread because we are taking a cruise on the Glory in October to the Bahamas. Now that I have read it, I am interested in one day taking a cruise to Canada. Thank you very much!

Glad you like it, your always welcome in Canada. :)

Mike and family, I have followed all of your posts here on all of your cruises. I live in East Central Florida so I have six ports at my front door so to speak. But since reading this review I think I will crusie Canada sometime soon. I have crusied on the Glory and it is one of my favorite ships!

Thanks again!

Fred

Thanks Fred, we Canadians would love to have you visit. :D

Mike, Thanks so much for the wonderful photos and review of your Canadian cruise. We cruised the Glory out of Norfolk, VA to the Bahamas in May and loved her. Would definitely be willing to try the Canadian itinerary after reading your review.

When your wife was in training, I sent her a card with our son in his hockey uniform! I'm happy to hear that she made it through unscathed and is now doing what she loves.

Your family is gorgeous!

Hi this is Tracy, Thank you for the card. I was shocked and pleasantly suprised to receive your card along with a few others. Thank you to everyone. It certainly gave me a good feeling to keep going when things were so tough. I have all the cards and a couple of photos in with my depot belongings. I had every intention of replying while I was in training, but never found the time. Thank you again and I hope we meet on a Cruise some day.

Another great review Mike! Your children have grown up a lot in the past 18 months. Great pictures, love the reflection of the whale tail in the water.

Thank you Janice, very nice of you. :)
