Just upgraded to room over main show lounge?

Recommended Posts

I was in a similar room. My only noise complaint was that we enjoyed napping in the afternoon and they were practicing which got loud. At night it wasn't bad because we were more night owls so we were never in our room while the shows were going on.

Shows are over by midnite. Used to be more of a problem when they had the comedians there for an adult show at midnite. Now that they have been moved to the Punchliner, less noise later. However, you may still hear the bass thru your floor, and faint cheers/clapping. We found that more noise came up thru the stairways, and traveled down the hallway than came thru our floor. If you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs and you will have no problems at all. As a balcony upgrade, you really can't go wrong! Enjoy!

Thanks all.

Hubby sleeps like a log, I am a light sleeper but also a night owl. I will bring some ear plugs just in case.

I also plan to bring my ipod and speakers - so hopefully our music will drowned out the other.

My understanding is they have a show after each meal seating. So we are really not talking alot of hours. The practice time is probably in the day anyway.

Didnt' have too many too choose from at the past guest sale price but this was the closest one to midship without having to pay the midship pricing and was away from any laundry/closets/stairs/elevators.

Thanks for informing me so I can be prepared.

I just booked a balcony over the Main Show Lounge on the Breeze. I usually book higher up and between cabin decks BUT this was not an option for this sailing at the moment.

I am thinking that above the main show lounge is better than above many other things on the Promenade Deck! I have Late Seating for Dinner and then go out an about for a while so my thinking was that this lounge would be all done for the night before I headed to bed.

I think you will be OK ;)

I was thinking along the same lines. Could be we will even be at the show until it ends and then go to bed.

I am looking at earplugs and going to try a few different ones just in case.

I thought I would rather have a balcony than an inside for our first cruise. When I looked at what was available for the price range this looked to be the best option.

I have been reading on CC what area's of ship to avoid - rooms under pool area and night clubs. Haven't seen many warnings about "over" the lounge area.

Carnival also told me they mark some rooms as "night owl" as they are over clubs, but no warning like that for the lounge.

Thanks all

If you are in your cabin you will hear the shows and music. We would see the early show and then lay in bed and know what act they were on for the late show because it was loud and clear in the cabin. I wouldnt book that room again but it wa sonly for a short time and not every night is there a show so you will be fine.

We had a similar cabin (we always book aft) on the Grand Princess during a transatlantic sailing..!:p Unfortunately, I came down with a 'bug' and was stuck in bed for 5 days (all at sea).. I heard every practice, and two shows a day! I swear the Bass player in the band had it 'in for me'!!:(

We now book at least one deck higher, if not two... :p

Absolutely! We had a deck 6 cabin over the casino on one cruise and I would definitely take the main lounge over the casino.

We have a balcony room under the waterslide! People here have said not too worry about it. Im trying not to but I wont lie, i am very nervous about that and being so close to the bars.

Hopefullu it wont be an issue :) I am trusting the word of everyone here :D

We just upgraded to a balcony on freedom over the vistoriana main show lounge. Cabin 6251.

Was wondering if we should expect any noise issues?

Thanks,

Was this like a free upgrade or one you paid for at a discounted rate? Just curious.

my brother and i had a room above the show lounge on the magic. we always went to the early shows and came back to the room. we never heard a thing from the late show. i was a bit iffy on the room as well, but so glad i picked it. it was very quiet.

You guys are making me - and hopefully the OP - feel better ;) THANKS!!

I am planning on keeping an eye on cabin selections, esp. once final pmt is due, to see if anything else becomes available at a reasonable price.

We paid for the upgrade $220. It would have been $420 but I got it in writing from customer service that you DO NOT have to have cruised before to use the VIFP # for past guest.

The only stipulation - there are two different sale pricings under the VIFP #. One for guest who have not sailed before and one for those who have sailed.

Crazy I know but that is what I was told. Therefore even though I could see more rooms available I was limited to certain ones for my selection. I could have paid $40 more to get midship - but $220 was enough for me and my room 6251 is not to far forward.

And yes you are making me feel better about the location.
