Off the Conquest Last Sunday 7/8

While I am not good at writing a review, I will be happy to answer any questions about my July 8 Conquest cruise to the Bahamas.

The weather was beautiful the whole time (although quite HOT at the beaches). We all had a great time (family and friends). Getting on the ship was a breeze. Our balcony cabin on deck 7 was lovely and quite (cabin 7348). There was no trash from above falling on our balcony. Very quite neighbors. Our steward was so nice and kept ice in our room at all times and always had our cabin cleaned when we returned. Chocolates every night plus our towel friend.

People were friendly and having a good time, and I never saw one drunk. We were always able to find a table to sit by the pool. I do not feel like the waiters were constantly trying to get you to buy drinks. Also, the children were well behaved.

I have noticed after not cruising for 8 years that the food is a little different. It was hot and good enough for me. The buffet was not quite the same either, but still fine. I loved the stir fry. Don't get the hottest sauce like I did. I love spicy food and the spicier the better, but not this sauce. I had to run and get water FAST. In fact, the server said a few times, "Are you sure you want that sauce". I told him 3 times yes, but I guess he knew better. I got the cheese plate from the MDR twice to bring back to my cabin and ordered a glass of chardonnay and just sat on the balcony with such a relaxed feeling. I do have to say that the balcony door was not a problem and noisy as I have heard and if you open it all the way, it will stay open (although we closed it). The cabin was ok, not cold as I am use to in hotel rooms. Some people were complaing that their cabin was hot. At least I didn't have to walk around with a robe on from freezing.

People did wear shorts in the MDR on casual night. I also noticed a guy in jeans on Elegant night and he was NOT turned away. Hardly anyone had long dresses on and I didn't even notice one guy wearing a Tux. I guess that is going to be a thing of the past. Not too many even had suits on. Definitely more casual attire in the MDR now.

The shows definitely went downhill since 8 years ago. Totally too much Karaoke. I did enjoy the impersonators (auditions and show). Because of that I spent more time in the casino. Daughter got the free drink coupon on her third night and I got mine on the 4th night. The casino people were extremely friendly. I joined the slot tournament (it ran fo 2 1/2 hours and you played the slots for 5 minutes). Never in a million years would I have thought I would come in 3rd place, but I did. Then found out that we had a final round of the top 8. Well I didn't make it, but because of the first round, I received $100 and a T-shirt and hat. Hit a few nice hits, but naturally I played it back.

DH loved the horseback riding in Freeport (I didn't do that). Key West was ok, Our Lacaya was ok, and Atlantis was beautiful, but too much walking. We stayed on the beach for 2 1/1 hours and even though we paid $103 each for the Atlantis Beach and Discover excursion, we still had to pay an additional $40 for the umbrella which we winded up giving to the other party to have when left after 2 1/2 hours. The lunch included was a hamburger, french fried and coke. I don't think it was worth the price, but if I didn't go, I would have regretted it.

Again, if there are any questions, I would be happy to answer them.

:):D:)

WOW on getting $100 for placing 3rd in the slot tournament.

I placed 2nd last time and got NOTHING. I was "this close" to winning but got edged out at the last minute.

I am so surprised that you got a prize for 3rd place. I hope this is a change fleet wide.

Needless to say, I lost a lot that week, even after getting triple triple stars twice in one night and on the same machine, plus quite a few other hits. First night I got triple and 2 blue star sevens for 9 hundred credits and went to a Sizzler quarter machine and pretty fast got the 3 red 7s for $75 and since my drink didn't come yet, stayed at that machine and bingo another 3 red 7s for $75. Kind of hard to wonder how I could lose close to a $1000 iafter hitting so many nice hits, but the machines were tight and you had to really feed it to possibly get a nice hit. And yes stupid me, fed them, but I had a ball doing it. After all, I was on vacation. :p:):p:eek: My points for the tournament was $159, 560. First place was around $189,000. Final round I only had about $32,000 points. I also received $10 free play 3 times as my points were over 3000 and you get the $10 for every 1000 points. Forgot to mention that even after 8 years, the players club had chocolate covered cherries in my room and a $10 coupon toward pictures. When I called to find out if I qualified for anything, they said no that after 2 years you lose your points, but the guy said that he would give me strawberries which I thought was nice of him.

Jane, dont know where it is now.. but someone posted a welcome back thread to you.

They wanted to hear about your cruise and welcome you home.... you might look for it and reply to them since they were so nice.

I will look into that. Thanks. :)

Nice review, you did good. Glad you had a great cruise, sorry about Atlantis, sounded to expensive for what you got.

That's okay though. Yes it wasn't worth the money, but we still had a great time. DH and I wished we could have just gone shopping and stay in the casino. I barely had time to play a $20 bill in there. Oh well, next cruise I will have to think twice before I spend too much on an excursion. Did I say all the walking you have to do at Atlantis? Geez! Too much . I thought I was in Disney World for a minute.

I found it and we have been posting back and forth. Thanks again for letting me know.

Did you eat at the Fish and Chips spot? How were the fried oysters?

Thanks for the review/notes.

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT. I tried everything, the melting cake, grill cheese and all the things that people were telling me to try and guess what? I am in the cab coming home and said, "Oops................forgot the oysters. Oh well, thank goodness I am in New Orleans, I can get some real good oysters here.
