Fox rent a car?

Will be cruising out of San Diego in March and was looking for an inexpensive Van rental from Lax to San Diego (4 days)

 

Fox has the lowest cost, but mostly negative reviews

Larger operators are 2-3 times more expensive...

Has anyone used them? Reliable? hidden costs?

 

Any info appreciated..

Just dealt with Fox in Phoenix. Very deceptive, tricky prices, and hidden charges. Tried to talk circles around us, tried very hard to hook us into mandatory insurance.

 

Needless to say, don't use them!

I've read several horror stories about Fox @ LAX on Tripadvisor. (Of course there may be lots of success stories that never get published.) If you rent from them it's clear you need to make sure you cover your a** at every step...don't give them money in advance, take numerous photos of the car before you even start the engine, record pre-existing damage and be sure the agent agrees to sign for it (they get belligerent at times from what I've read), and be sure the tank is, indeed, full.

If you go to Youtube and search for Fox Rent A Car there is a few videos that somebody recently posted about Fox. They're some ugly comments about them as well. Good luck!

What is your itin in SoCal? Are you arriving in LAX then driving straight down to San Diego? OR something else?

 

Might want to check out renting a car in different ways.

Something like renting three cars--

One for the LA area, one for transportation to San Diego, then one in San Diego. Lots of extra work but you might save a ton of money by doing so.

We will arrive in SF, 1-2 days then drive down the coast with a few short stops, an overnight in Anaheim, and then to San Diego
