We just got back from the Legend and Rotan was our favorite port. Too bad you are only there for 6 hours. We purchased the Magical Beach Chair Package for $40.00 for 2 people which included unlimited rides ont he Magical Beach Chair (Ski Lift) from the shopping center to the beach, 2 beach chairs under a "Clam Shell" cabana and 2 nice rafts. We went as soon as we got off the ship, while everyone else was shopping which was nice as there was hardly anyone on the beach. It was beautiful and clean, the water was good for snorkling. There are restaruants on the beach who send waiters around to take your drink and food order. After about 3 1/2 hours we then went back to the shopping area and shopped with no crowds.

Think of what you can buy elsewhere anywhere on the island .. and double the price. Coffee was double what I paid when I went to the old port and shopped near that port for instance .. even cheaper if you go with Victor Bodden and have him take you to a grocery store. Coffee is one of my favorite things to buy at this port, bought 10 at the grocery store, its been better than blue mountain Ive gotten at the port in jamaica and much cheaper.

Very expensive stores, tee shirts and everything else very high compared to other souveneir spots on the island, though there were some very cute shops. Of course Im sure these shops pay a kickback to Carnival inside the port area, and there is NOTHING near the port you can walk to. They have a captive audience. Great move by Carnival developing a port in the middle of no where.

We have been twice.....both times, we have had a clam shell with two chairs for FREE! We WALK (oh my gosh) instead of paying for the chair lift and we juts grabbed empty seats.....

The stores are the same rediculous crap stores you find at every other port...just newer & cleaner....

If this is your first time to Roatan, get away from the cruise dock and visit this wonderful island..You can take an island tour with Victor Bodden for $40 PP for two or $25 PP for four for all day . You book on line and do not pay anything until you are returned to your ship...Or you can catch the public bus and visit other parts of the island....But definitely get away from the cruise dock or you will miss so much..just my 2 cents worth..:)
