Nellie's Beach Cabana - question about adding guests...

I'm trying to figure out how to add 5 people to my Nellie's Beach cabana reservation! It took me awhile to figure out that you only use one name/rez number when you initially book the cabana and pay for it, but I finally did figure that one out and successfully booked one for our Aug 26 Allure cruise.:) I want to add DH and 2 other couples, giving us a total of 6 for the cabana.

So now...I've looked at the online reservation, and it appears that I can add guests, BUT when I start to do this, that $175 shows after each name. It kinda looks like each of them will be charged $175 like I paid when I reserved it.:( Surely that isn't right!

Any advice from experienced Nellie's Beach cabana users out there? Is it better to wait and do this after we board? Or can I do it now? Can you tell I'm inexperienced with this cabana stuff?:p:confused:

Thanks!

Judy

the price is per cabana not per person..

I was told up I could have as many people as i wanted in my cabana.. i think they get wrist bands when we check in.. there is probably more info over on the private island board.. i think i'll mosey over there and check it out..

9 more days i'll know for sure!!

I think there's a limit of 6 per cabana, and I know they don't charge per person, just the $175 per cabana, but it's really confusing to try to add the other names online. Maybe you don't do it that way?

(I have this vision of all 6 of us ending up with a private cabana if I add the names online...the other 5 will be a little POed with the $175 charge, but hey - wouldn't we all be popular with our shipmates if we each got 6 wristbands! I think we'd all have new BFFs!:D)

Checking out the private island board is a GREAT idea! Thanks for thinking of that...heading over there now!:p

AND do come back after your cruise and let us know how this works!!

Simply. Tell the concierge the names of the other guests, and they can join you. Only one reservation is needed for up to 6 guests

I would do that if we were on Barefoot Beach (suites and D+), but the Concierge doesn't book the Nellie's beach cabanas. We're not in a suite this time and just D, so I don't think the Concierge method will work for us.

Here is what RCI told me: You do not add any names for Nellie's beach cabanas. You reserve them under one name and then just show up!

Yep, you're right. I've been reading lots of stuff today, and that was exactly what everybody said. So there is no need at all to put in the names of the other guests online.

Here's what I've concluded after researching...you receive a call onboard the day before Labadee (or I think you could probably just go to the Excursions Desk yourself) and you are asked how many guests will be with you. You are given some kind of tickets. You leave the ship, go to the golf cart guys, show them your tickets, and they take you to Nellie's Beach. Here you are given wristbands (which get you into the special lunch at the adjacent Barefoot Beach) and you are taken to your cabana.

Then you have a great day in your cabana and at the beach and...hopefully...dare we dream...a decent lunch!:D:o:D

You have it right. This is exactly how it went for us last week on Explorer. You only get one ticket per cabana. The ticket was in the cabin on embarkation day. I kept it in the safe to keep it from getting lost.

The lunch was OK. It wasn't bad, it wasn't great IMHO. It was probably better than the regular buffet. For sure it was less crowded.

Less crowded is very very good!:)

Thanks for confirming the the way it works - I can stop worrying about how to add names and just look for that ticket in the cabin.

I've rented a beach cabana at Nellie's and plan on being there as early as I can. Another couple will be joining us later in the morning will I get tickets to give to them beforehand? Somewhere I read you can have up to 6 guests in a cabana but you only get one ticket? Do we all have to go at the same time??

The ticket will be in your room upon boarding. You give this ticket to a tram driver on Labadee. The attendants will give you wristbands for everyone in your party. The wristbands allow you to go to Barefoot beach and the special BBQ. You do not all need to be there at same time.

If there is only one ticket, how will the tram driver be able to identify the people in your party who are arriving later as cabana guests?? I will be going to the cabana early, but my in-laws (who can't walk great distances) will be joining us later and really need to be able to get on the tram to get to the cabana.

Would we just give the our guests our cabana number and the attendant can come & find us? Will we even know our cabana number beforehand?

There's a gated area where they check your wristband. Just tell one of the attendants that you are expecting more people. They will put their names on a clipboard and escort them to your cabana. I think if you email the concierge, you can select the cabana of your choice, if you have a preference.

I thought only Suite Guests had CONCIERGE service? Am I wrong, or can people that are not suite guests pre pick a cabana? Thanks!

No concierge for Nellie's beach cabanas unless you are also in a suite.

This is good info - thanks! We have a beach cabana on Nellie's Beach reserved for our Allure trip to Labadee in February and I was wondering how it all would work. 4 of us, but I followed instructions and only booked for 1.

The next question is: How much do you tip the cabana attendant? And do you usually tip at the start or end of the day?

The cabanas are offered to suite guests first, then pinnacle and D+. Although they have added new ones since I was there last. So it's pretty rare to get one otherwise.

We tipped him $20 at the end of the day. He seemed very pleased with our tip. I don't know what is typical. We also tipped the golf cart guy $5 halfway through the day. We were going back and forth a lot. Once I tipped him, he materialized every time we needed him.

Yes, you are partially right!:p Your information is correct for the Barefoot Beach cabanas. The original cabanas on Barefoot Beach are for suite guests, then pinnacle and D+. These are booked through the concierge. But that's only on Barefoot Beach - not Nellie's Beach.

The new cabanas are on Nellie's Beach, they are open to anyone and are booked as an Excursion. It's first come, first served as there are a limited number of cabanas on Nellie's Beach, but anyone can book them, regardless of cabin level or C&A status. They do sell out early, so you pretty much have to book one and pay for it as soon as they appear on the Excursions menu. 3 types of cabanas are available at Nellie's - Hillside, Beach, and Over Water. The concierge has nothing to do with these Nellie's Beach cabanas - you just book them and pay in advance, like you would prebook any Excursion.

The discussion here is about the Nellie's cabanas that all of us have booked and bought already. So we've already confirmed and paid for our cabanas, and we know we have them. (The concierge was not involved.)

No, you're not wrong! You can book a Nellie's Beach cabana regardless of your cabin level (no matter if you're in a suite or not), and the Concierge has nothing to do with the cabanas on Nellie's Beach. You just go to the Excursions Menu and look at the excursions for Labadee. If there are still cabanas left, you'll be able to book one. The 3 types of cabana to choose from are Hillside, Beach, and Over Water - usually the Over Water ones go fast.

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to lead you astray. I haven't been there since January, and I had forgotten about the new Cabanas.

It really does make you feel like royalty to have your own space. Just make sure that everyone in your party knows the drinks in the cooler aren't free!!! They will be charged to the account of the person who makes the reservation.

Have a great time, take lots of pictures, everyone is dying to know about the new areas.

Marsha
