We are on the Regatta Black Sea trip in Aug 2012. We know that the only tender port is Nessabur. All the others are berthed. Trying to figure out the proximity to town from port in other ports. Mainly Constanta, Odessa, Batumi, Trabzon and Sinop. Have the other ports taken care of with private tours. Thanks for any help available. Pat

Here's a few things I found. It sure is a small port. If you look at where one of the "R" ships is located in the picture, it appears to be at the place near "customs" on the lower, large map. Hope these help you. :)

We did the Black Sea with SS 2 years ago. Doubt the ports are that different...

In Odessa the pier was close to town; nice and modern facility at the base of the Potemkin steps which is within walking distance. Crossing the street was the biggest challenge - lots of traffic!

Sinop was very close to town as well; it's basically at the end of the pier.

Constantza was a bit of a walk through an ugly industrial port, then a (more) seedy section of town to get to the main (seedy) part of town. Most would advise you not to walk from port to town, though we did and lived to tell the tale! It was probably a half-mile.

In Constanta, there was a shuttle to the main town. Not a lot to see and o there and when we were there some people had problems with individuals impersonating police officers and asking for passports etc. In Odessa we were right at the base of the famous steps that take you into town. This was an east town to walk to and around. Sinop we docked right at town and walked around. Trabzon we took the ships 2 part tour that included a trip to the monastery, back to the ship for lunch and then a tour of the city. Not sure you can get to the main part of town, walking on your own. The tour to the monastery was well worth it. Hope this helps.

Thanks all!!!! Have already been to Constanta on a river cruise--will take a sea day in port. JP, my exact sentiment about Constanta. Hoping that we dock close to town in Batumi, but if not maybe there will be a shuttle. Again, thanks. Pat

Our ship was also docked way out on an industrial pier in Constanta. But we took a bus tour to the ancient greek ruins of Histria, and had a great day--wonderful wildlife, views from the bus of life in that part of the world. Walked around town for a while afterwards--not much to see, but I was interested to see what was in the stores--they are really into shoes!

In Odessa we were docked right at the foot of the Potemkin steps. Beautiful city.
