El_Rolfo Posted July 26, 2012 #1 Share Posted July 26, 2012 What is the best way of booking a future cruise, in our case we are considering a December 2013 cruise in the Caribbean, the Eclipse December 14th 14 days Exotic S. Caribbean to be exact. We are doing the Adriatic cruise in 15 days(!), should we book the next one already DURING that cruise? If they offer you some kind of incentive, is it still possible to use the shareholder OBC then for the same cruise also?

Since you are going on a cruise so soon, I recommend that you book while on board. Go book as soon as you can. Booking on board gives you $300 OBC for a 14 day cruise + some upgrades for your cabin (within cabin grades). Also, we did the S. Caribbean on the Constellation in March. It is an excellent cruise with eight ports. Check out my review. http://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/memberreview.cfm?EntryID=99934
Kathie44 Posted July 26, 2012 #3 Share Posted July 26, 2012 Book the future cruise on board. I would also recommend getting a Passages Certificate in case you decide to book another cruise before you are on the next one. A Passages Certificate costs $100 (part of the deposit). If you decide to book a cruise later while not on a ship, you will still receive OBC.
Rare ghstudio Posted July 26, 2012 #4 Share Posted July 26, 2012 Book the cruise on-board to get a lower deposit and perhaps a room upgrade depending on which category cabin you are booking. They may also offer you an OBC. Great deal. Now you can make it much better. When you get home, look on the internet to see if any TA's are giving "special" OBC's or perks for your cruise. In many cases, those OBC's are being given by the TA, not by Celebrity...so they are "stackable"...you get celebrity's OBC and the TA's OBC. You have to call the TA and ask who is giving the OBC...and if you find a TA you'd like to use, tell them you booked on-board and you'd like to transfer your booking to them...if they give you the OBC. Caution: you must do this within 60 days of making the original booking (Celebrity's rule).
El_Rolfo Posted July 27, 2012 Author #5 Share Posted July 27, 2012 Ok, so basically the shareholder obc is worthless then? Then again $300 obc + possible TA obc would not be thaaaaat bad. :)
Rare cruisestitch Posted July 27, 2012 #6 Share Posted July 27, 2012 ShareholderOBC is not worthless -- many people who are not on board a ship when they make the decision to book a cruise use the shareholder OBC. The shipboard offer is better than the OBC in most cases but if you're sitting at home and decide to make a new booking, the shareholder OBC is of great value at that moment. El_Rolfo Posted July 27, 2012 Author #7 Share Posted July 27, 2012 Yes, what I meant to say was, it's worthless in this case. I do use it for our upcoming cruise next month, though.
