Chinprin Posted August 5, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 5, 2012 I know you are not allowed to bring food (non-packaged) off the ship into the islands/different countries, but what about Florida? Our first stop from NYC is cape canaveral and I was wondering that since it's still the US if I could bring my toddlers a sandwich or cheese and crackers to munch on while we are in port. LadyShiva Posted August 5, 2012 #2 Share Posted August 5, 2012 Check the dailies for the rules on bringing non-packaged food off the ship. If the daily says not to, don't. :)
family cruisers Posted August 5, 2012 #3 Share Posted August 5, 2012 I took this in Port Canaveral, this will answer your question :)
Barb Nahoumi Posted August 5, 2012 #4 Share Posted August 5, 2012 I took this in Port Canaveral, this will answer your question :) This photo is worth 1000 words. It is best to buy snacks in port.
NMLady Posted August 5, 2012 #5 Share Posted August 5, 2012 Pre-packaged sealed foods are usually okay in any port so you might want to pack some individual packages of cheese crackers or something similar. I don't mean what you "package" in a ziplock bag but what the store sells in individual shrink-wrapped package. We always have granola bars with us in their sealed packages. Chinprin Posted August 5, 2012 Author #6 Share Posted August 5, 2012 Ok thanks. I wanted to know in advance, so now I know to pack plenty of individually packaged snacks, like protein bars and the such!

cruzsnooze Posted August 5, 2012 #9 Share Posted August 5, 2012 It's agriculture and fruit they look for. If you pack in a zip loc bag some cookies or cereal or rolls or other dry goods type item you should have no problems.
Medtech2 Posted August 5, 2012 #10 Share Posted August 5, 2012 Cheese and crackers or a sandwich with no produce, are not agricultural products and should be fine.
kylenyc Posted August 6, 2012 #11 Share Posted August 6, 2012 NO! On our last cruise departing NYC, I carefully assembled a nice sandwich from the buffet and put them in zip loc along with some cookies. After seeing a similar $50,000 WARNING sign while walking into Port Canaveral (like the one above) I asked the nice port officer if our packaged lunch was ok. He promptly gave us a stern look and made us toss everything into the garbage :D I WOULD NOT suggest keeping quiet next time and playing innocent if caught  My guess is the port authority would rather play safe and lazy rather then waste time interrogating passengers on the ingredients in their sandwiches.:p
