You are bothered by something that is allowed. Why not write a letter to the cruise line?

Not that bothered... Just don't like people who intentionally cheat the system. At least the fttf people paid extra for the convenience....

Not losing any time worrying about it. I'm still getting on a ship for heaven's sake!

LHP this is what kinda gets my goat. I look over to the HC area, or have sat there with my sister .. and 10 people of all ages are gathered around one wheelchair..

To me this is even more prevalent... not even all the same immediate family obviously!!

wife and sister and law are driving me crazy with last min questions

Will are linked bookings be able to board together, if we have one of our party who has to have a wheelchair due to mobility issues? (we have a big family, with little kids, and are worred about being split up)

Sorry! It was post #7 who said they take up to 10 cabins thru VIP with them. I realize for you this is a win win situation but not for those left waiting behind you while you check in all your non-vip members. And for those who want to start hollering class distinction, it has nothing to do with that. One of the best perks of VIP status is not having to wait in long lines at check-in and this is being watered down by those who see nothing wrong with taking all there friends and family thru VIP.

Pat

Hate to break this to you but the VIP embarkation is already watered down on the casino VIP and Premier cruises. It adds about 200 people to the VIP lounge and is usually faster just going through the regular lines

Geez some of you guys must really be upset if there are 2 wedding parties and a possible a special needs/ handicapped group cruise. It might set you back about 20 or 30 minutes :)

so you think grossly exaggerating someone who says its annoying and saying they are really upset is somehow proving your point other than you like to exaggerate to make others points less valid in your mind?

The VIP process is watered down, lets be honest. Usually I dont care.

I do need to get off Conquest in Sept as fast as possible and jump in my car and get to Galveston to board Magic the same day. I probably will be annoyed if I find this doesnt happen. Its a 6 1/4 hrs drive per what I googled. I have close parking .. just gotta get off the ship as fast as possible in NOLA.

It was purely an observation from reading some of the posts. Notice I said "SOME"? No gross exaggeration here . It's all in print :)

I am guessing that it depends on the port.

Every time I have seen a handicapped individual, the port restricted them to ONE family member....not the whole group.

perhaps to prevent abuse like that....

She was talking about the VIP loophole. Which is non existent if it is allowed. We don't even know if Carnival will allow this with the new program. It was never mentioned and unless it is clearly a written rule. Why start rumors?

This is in NO WAY a rumor.

John Heald confirmed on his Facebook page a couple of days ago that this loophole does indeed exist in the VIP program.

It only takes Common Sense to see that IF Carnival can not control it in the VIP lounge....then they will not be able to control it with the F2F program either.....

I have seen it in Galveston, the main port I leave from. And people are looking over as a large family goes over to sit in the HC area and no one stops them. The platinum people watch and mutter but nothing is done to stop them from the whole family boarding together.. they just walk over and sit with them in the HC waiting area... next to or with the VIP area.

I guess I need to distinguish between "check in" together and "boarding" together.

To me, it is the delay in the "checking in" process that is more important to me than just boarding the ship.

(the checking in process stresses our son) lots of people in a small office....or small holding check in area.....

Although boarding was already in progress when we arrived, I know for a fact that we bumped VIP's in our journey through the terminal. Heck, we didn't even have to go to the check-in counter in the VIP lounge. The kind rep told us to all have a seat on the sofa while she took our passports to retrieve our cards:D

I saw VIP's at the desk when we arrived and we received our cards faster than they did.

LOL! Ok the gods have spoken. Carnival offers guests the opportunity to use a VIP's cc to board with the VIP's in their party. No loophole there.

I get the stressing out part for sure. I am confused though as to why your family would not be getting the same sort of treatment that we received for check-in since we are dealing with the whole autism thing here.

I would think that with the cruises you've done, CCL would have it down to a science for you and your son

Linda, I have to respect your son for his management of the situation (even if it isn't the best). My son doesn't travel with us because he cannot handle the situation. We use to take him with us when we traveled until he finally made it clear that he wanted to be left behind as he perfered the stability of his group home over the whole seeing the world idea.

Sorry that was off topic... I still believe this is going to open up a whole bag of worms in fttf program.

It is a loophole when upon boarding said party proceeds immediately to Guest services and changes the setup.

You are incorrect.

Carnival does not offer this. John just confirmed that it was a LOOPHOLE that the credit card situation created.

Listening to our son's needs is the number one reason we are still with Carnival. It is where he is comfortable.

So how about this.... VIP'er checks in regular at VIP and if they have minor children in an additional cabin they can go as well. The remaining 9 cabins or whatever that are trying to jump the line by using the VIP'ers CC won't be able to check-in even if using the CC unless the VIP'er wants to go join them in the regular line so that their CC can be attached to the others S&S account. Don't expect too many VIP'ers would be willing to go that far but who knows. :D
