Renting car in Barcelona

Looking for information on renting a car from Airport or Train station

Where are you driving to? Why a car?

I would not recommend renting a car for use in central Barcelona. It is a nightmare to drive there (even for us who are used to driving in Spain) and virtually impossible to park

If you want the car to drive around the surrounding area then make sure your hotel has parking spaces. Some do not have any, others do but are quite expensive. You may be better staying outside the city centre and travel in using public transport.

There are a lot of car rental companies at the airport and that is probably your best best. Sants station does have car rentals but it is not easy to get to where you have to go to pick up the car.

Thanks for your comments Carol. We are arriving in Barcelona the day before we get on a ship. We are staying overnight in Sitges; hence the car. We thought that it may be cost effective to have a car, head back to Barcelona in the morning, drop off the luggage at the Port and then have some time to see Barcelona before returning the car. But, the time to return the car to the airport and get a taxi to the port just doesn't make sense. Getting to Sitges is relatively easy, we think from the airport. It's the return in the morning that is complicated as we have to get to the port, not the airport.
