Is great house worth it?

If you mean the Good Hope Great House, then I'd probably say no, unless you're specifically interested in this history of the Great House, its plantation, or the area in general.

I did a "high tea" excursion there and it was certainly pleasant, but it wasn't anything really special. The view from the Great House was, well, great, but that's about all you get. There may be more in terms of exploring the area around the Great House that I didn't take advantage of.

I'd prefer to do an excursion that is a bit more of a tour of the island, or at least the greater area around the port, rather than just a single location.

I agree, it is not much. The scenery is nice and the lunch is nice, but not much of anything else. If you like old houses, the inside is like all other old plantation homes, and a lunch then it is enjoyable. The lunch is outside so it can get hot, we were there in April.
