One More HAL Dress Code Q, Re: Men

...The problem is inconsistency. I've seen jacketless (and tieless) men turned away....

We've all seen jacketless and tieless men turned away. The question is, have you ever witnessed a man wearing a suit or sportscoat sans tie turned away?

Even Sail has had to backtrack from such an assertion.

No, I haven't seen anyone turned away for being "tieless" (just jacketless).

Of course you haven't! :D

And lest anyone has forgotten after 100+ posts, that was the OP's only question. If it hadn't been for one particular poster asserting that the OP's husband could be refused admittance to the dining room for not wearing a tie, this thread could have ended after only 1 reply. A simple, "he will be absolutely fine in a sportscoat without a tie" would have answered the question and ended the discussion.

LOL.

So now it is that you've seen it or read about it, huh?

I have no doubt whatsoever that you believe it.

What I seriously doubt - and what I posted previously - is that you've seen it.

And now, apparently, you have backtracked from that declaration as well.

No, I am not backtracking. Frankly, I feel quite attacked by your style in this post.

I wasn't aware my every word is so carefully analyzed so critically.

I think you probably got the drift of my post.

I absolutely think it to be true or I would not write it and if I read it, it was written by a source that is as credible as I am. I didn't see WWII but I read about it and believe many of the sources of the information.

I don't believe everything I read on the internet but if I am reading the Mass General website about a given disease or procedure, I put credibility in what I am reading.

I have seen a man refused entry to the MDR because he did not wear a tie on formal night. It was about 2 years ago, I grant, but I saw it.

Because someone else did not see it, does not mean it didn't/doesn't happen.
