moondusterr Posted August 19, 2012 #2 Share Posted August 19, 2012 I have anxiety about driving on interstates. Afraid of getting into a car crash..etc. I live 10 minutes from a port so going on a cruise for me means not driving far.

alabamaprincess Posted August 19, 2012 #4 Share Posted August 19, 2012 I love looking at the ocean. Its less expensive than getting a condo at the beach. I don't have to cook or clean. I can do as much or as little as I want to do. I love the food in the MDR. I love the shows in the main lounge. I love being rocked to sleep at night. I love having quality time with my husband and daughter.
CapsR1 Posted August 19, 2012 #5 Share Posted August 19, 2012 We love not having to plan in advance and actually look forward to sea days. We like our anytime dinner reservations so we can eat with our one child when we are all hungry. We love leaving the driver to the Captain and learning to let go and just relax for a very short week! NikandMick Posted August 19, 2012 #6 Share Posted August 19, 2012 .......because I have two small children and whilst we visit many different ports/countries we only have to unpack once. We only have to get the kids used to one room, one bed, one routine - it's a FABULOUS family holiday.

gertiesmom Posted August 19, 2012 #8 Share Posted August 19, 2012 I feel like its the only vacation that I can use the excuse "I don't get cell service at sea"! I completely disconnect, no iPhone, no iPad, no email, no messaging! It's my escape form life. If I travel stateside, I don't get that same escape feeling. Even on my trip to Dubai, I was still using my iPad for Facebook, news, email, etc. not on a cruise though! I love the feeling that I get from a weeklong reprieve from life. mibarron Posted August 19, 2012 #14 Share Posted August 19, 2012 I have two kids that are 7 years apart and always want to do different things. Going on a cruise allows me to send my oldest (15) to the teen areas and my youngest (8) to the kids section and they love it. I get to have my own time to relax and keep my sanity. :)

TriciaEMTB Posted August 19, 2012 #16 Share Posted August 19, 2012 Because I've never felt as much at peace as I did on an open deck at 3am in the morning at sea. It was quiet and still and it was beautiful

jaoconnor4 Posted August 19, 2012 #18 Share Posted August 19, 2012 I love this thread! I am new to cruising, but I am so excited to "unplug". My hubby is addicted to his phone, but has decided not to even bring it on the ship. I can't wait!
AriesMoon Posted August 19, 2012 #19 Share Posted August 19, 2012 I love being on the water. The enormity of the ocean and its eternal horizon makes me happy... it feels like an adventure. I like the absolute laziness of sea days combined with the excitement of port days. And I like having the ship as "home base" during our journey. Specific to cruising the Caribbean: 1) I love the endless shades of blue in the water. 2) The warm salty water has magical therapeutic qualities. 3) All those delightful islands are so conveniently co-located!
