gambee Posted May 1, 2013 #5078 Share Posted May 1, 2013 It's quite windy and slightly noisy (exhausts perhaps?) and loungers or any furniture are probably not gonna happen as deck 7 is the lifeboatdeck and should be clear/easy accesible in emergencies? (just guessing?) Signing off for a few days, boarding Epic in a few hours! :) Have a great cruise! Ten months is a loooong time! ;) We only started the RP thread back in mid-January, or about 4-1/2 months before delivery. Makes the time go by quicker when you're not watching it for so long. P.S. who's going to volunteer to oversee the Everything GETAWAY thread? It probably won't be Gambee. He did do an excellent job locating cabins and getting those Countdown graphics posted here. Hats off to Gambee!!! :D I am not sure, hopefully someone starts it at some point, but at this point I don't think ill sailing Getaway anytime soon. I paid a premium for Breakaway and I not sure if I plan on doing the same for getaway. It seems to me that it is much easier to get really involved in these threads if you see yourself in the cruise at some point in time. I would really like to see the prices on Getaway becoming reasonable for the summer months and maybe grabbing a studio cabin for the week, that should be fun. joeski27 Posted May 1, 2013 #5081 Share Posted May 1, 2013 From the info we are getting, it seems that maybe some mini suites are actually the same size as balcony cabins. Only time and real-time reports will tell for sure.. Robin No there really isn't any mystery or unknowns on that front at all. With the obvious exception of aft cabins and larger suites, all balconies are the same tiny 32 sq ft size (including balcony staterooms and mini suites) unless one upgrades to a cabin that clearly states "large balcony" (i.e., the B6's or M6's). So just because it is called a mini suite, that means nothing wiht regard to balconies; you would have to have a upgraded mini suite category that states that it has a large balcony.
seabird1122 Posted May 1, 2013 #5082 Share Posted May 1, 2013 That seems a little harsh. "Entitled" seems to be the most annoyingly overused word in the English language right now anyway. Even when complaining about "entitlement programs", most people seem only to be referring to programs that they themselves don't benefit from, and not the ones that they do benefit from. Sorry, the word is a bit of a hot button to me; I need a cruise to chill out :o I think it's a reasonable expectation that a large balcony would be outfitted with the appropriate amount of furniture; otherwise I don't see any point to their existence. If all I wanted to do was sit in a straight chair or stand at the rail to look out I would probably have booked a cabin with a regular sized balcony. If the M6 balconies haven't gotten more furniture by the time I sail, I intend to bring some inflatable or collapsible pieces, appeal to my cabin stewards, and/or join the late night smuggling parade of M6 occupants :D Amen!! I'll be joining the parade

Now regarding the option of bringing stuff (hammock, etc), I'm just on the fence right now as I'm hoping the weather is good. If it is 65 and cloudy/windy/and or rainy then there will be no deck time for us, in which case that would be a waste. So I'm thinking bringing the hammock is not a major packing commitment, so I can get that and if the weather is crappy then its not a big deal. EbonySHeart Posted May 1, 2013 #5092 Share Posted May 1, 2013 That's the wife of the guy sitting in the Haven looking so jolly. Tom Too, too funny. IMO the waterfront and the terrace at Le Bistro seems like a great place to people watch. I can imagine passing a sea day (especially if it doesn't warm up in the next 19 days) sitting at the bar reading (wishing I had wifi), sailing, and watching people go by. But, they definitely need to do something about people blocking traffic. It is just out right rude. And that's that stuff I don't like. Brandis Posted May 1, 2013 #5095 Share Posted May 1, 2013 Here are my pics from the 1-nighter from Rotterdam to Southampton: https://picasaweb.google.com/101582072966026722485/201304NorwegianBreakaway?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCNKb9oaO79ev4AE&feat=directlink Also includes some photos of our trip to Rotterdam and the pre-cruise stay at the SS Rotterdam cruise hotel which I can really recommend. Great to get in the right cruise mindset :-) Some thoughts: Not too impressed with the check-in procedures, much better organized on Allure, but then, they probably don't do this every week. Studio was nice, could stay in there for a longer cruise. Didn't really see the need for the "window", it's just milk glass, you can't see in or out (opposed to some information I read which said you could look out but not see in). AC seemed to not work quite right, was pretty cool in the cabin, even with the thermostate set to the highest setting. At least one power outlet which stay "on" when taking the card out of the power slot in the cabin would be nice, to charge phones or camera batteries when out of the cabin. Surprised to see quite some scuff marks and warping on the wooden floor next to the shower / connecting door area. Signage to the studios area isn't very obvious, just a small sign next to an otherwise unmarked door with a card reader. The "Forward" elevators are not really forward, the studios are further forward so at first we walked in the wrong direction when we wanted to get to the elevator from the studios. Changing rooms in the Spice H2O area would be nice, had to change in the Handicapped restroom as I didn't want to walk through the whole ship in wet swimwear. Dinner in The Manhattan Room was nice, liked the big band style music. Not sure how it will work out with the dance show in there. Surprised on how small the theater is. They charge for regular tea at the coffee bar in the atrium, so we had our teas and espressos in the singles lounge. I felt there wasn't that much choice in the garden cafe compared to the buffet of Norwegian Jade, for example, also didn't care for the 1 line buffet setup, I prefer buffet islands. Ice Cream at the Garden Cafe was very good (and free), didn't see the Gelateria on the Waterfront open, so don't know how their ice cream is but looking at the menu, the choice seems pretty limited and the prices quite high. I thought the ship layout was more confusing than for example on Allure of the Seas. Don't play in the casino, but their slot machines looked quite interesting. Evarista Candelario Posted May 1, 2013 #5100 Share Posted May 1, 2013 I like Norwegian cruise line very much. I have made reservation for a solo suite on the Breakway, sailing out of NYC to Bermuda. But I just want you to know that you can get a suite for the same price on Royal Caribbean. I think it is overpriced, I guess because it is a new ship.
