They have updated the square footage of the S6 aft penthouse. It used to say 548 sgf( which I believe is the interior size). Now its says 655-824 sqf. This obviously includes the balcony. It shows the huge size difference between decks!

Same for large balcony. It is now 245 sqf. It was 204 sqf. before. It is also updated on My NCL.

Yep i just noticed they updated the sq footage for the Getaway too. Just caught that. Before it was listed as the Getaway having larger rooms all around than the Breakaway. Now it's listed the same. Sounds like someone is cleaning up all the discrepancies on their website.

My room went from 269sqft to 289sqft.

Just in case anyone missed it. Go to (Hsn.com keyword:cruise) to order your brochure to get $100 OBC. It is combinable with other promotions, I just did it today. What I have noticed is they seem to change your latitudes number but your cruise history should transition with the change. So you will not lose that.

Takes about 3-4days for you to receive an email stating your latitudes number has changed then call your PCC or TA to apply the $100 OBC.:)

Yes, we got it. Got it fast, too. It's already applied! We also got it last year. Can't beat a free $100 OBC!

I was hoping Getaway would have bigger balconies, but I guess not. Oh well ... it is what it is!

you could take the subway to the Bronx (HOLLER!) and watch a yankee game as well :p :p .... sorry, had to shout out my team!

best part of being raised in nyc is that there are so many things to do! so i can't give you a real suggestion, because i don't know you and what catches your fancy. shopping you can do in times square-- will be crazy, unnecessary expensive but if money is not an issue, have at it. museums are all over the place. restaurants pretty much anywhere. broadway shows, off-broadway shows, opera if you ride the 1 train a few stops uptown.... it's a helluva town!!

Thank u. I do like shopping but more like window shop. Lol. Wanna try Chinatown or little Italy. What's the best museums? I'm not really into art but history is okay. Love Thai food....where's a good place?? Was thinking about maybe trying to get tickets to Wicked. Seen Jersey Boys in Vegas and it was actually really good!! But it's only on one Saturday so I only can pick a few places that's why I'm asking (no matter what) I have to see or visit.....................?? Help me fill in the blanks!!

Glad to hear that about the casino - I did feel the other was poorly laid out and difficult to navigate in places.

In two weeks I don't think we ever stepped foot in the buffet area on the Epic... I guess I'll have to check this out!

Thanks,

Tom

I was on the TA.

Good news on the casino/smoking issue. The casino is large and better layed out than the Epic. There is a non-smoking section set away from the smoking sections. However, as a non-smoker, I was not effected by the smoke, as it appeared to be quickly extracted away. unlike the Epic.

On the Breakaway. Lovely ship and well appointed. The 'Waterfront' is outstanding and will be great in sunny warm waters.

When are you going? Tickets to top shows like Wicked need to be purchased months in advance. Seeing Jersey Boys in Vegas is not the same as Broadway. In fact seeing any show on the road (or in a cruise) is not really Broadway just an imitation.

New York has some of the greatest museums in the world. If The Met and MOMA aren't your thing try The Museum of Natural History and The Rose Planetarium. They are right next to each other. Have fun in the greatest city in the world.

If anyone is interested there are awesome new pics on TA thread. Best I have seen so far!

Which thread exactly are you speaking of? Just saw some great pics from the 2-nighter of a couple days ago, but not sure about the TA. I mean I saw some from a TA thread I think, but they were nothing to write home about (at least compared to the 2-night sailing out of NYC).

Oh, and by the way, I want to send a very sincere thank you to the obviously overwhelming majority who stuck up for me on the smoking issue of a couple of days ago. For the record I didn't bother to read any of the direct responses the other night after I made my final comments on the topic, really wasn't worth my time to do so. Kinda like when a parent gets into it with their child and the child is somehow convinced they are right, and the parent lays down the otherwise obvious facts and sets them straight, and though the kids "try" to make an some half-witted argument in response the parents smartly simply tune them out...yup, that pretty much sums it up. Again, though I didn't read the responses I saw a few very recent ones and 90% of them were sticking up for me, so again thanks very much for that. And to the everyone else, enjoy your cruise, and I'll see you on board in about a week ;);).

Now, let's carry on with the Breakaway excitement!!!! Oh and by the way, on the plus side for those of us sailing next week and the week after, the weather forecast seems to be improving with every day (though, now I'm sure I've probably freaking jinxed it...)

.

I saw Jersey Boys in NYC the same day as my idol Billy Joel did a 3+ hour show at Shea Stadium in the evening; and thought Jersey Boys was just as good.

When i saw it here in Philadelphia; neither the acting nor vocals were as strong. I saw Once in NYC over the winter; I enjoyed it so much I might take a shot at it here.

I am going to see Motown on 9/14 the night before the the Breakway.

There is also a newer Beatles show Let It Be I would like to see.

I saw Rain twice; and because that is more of a concert it was similar in both cities.

Although i did not care for the touring production of Rock Of Ages, I look forward to seeing it on the ship

HEY LADY! It's Citi Field,or Willetts Point.

Don't be afraid of the subways in NYC......always feel free to ask New Yorkers for directions on the subways. Most people are friendly and will guide you to the right direction. :)

New topic...

Noticing the reviews are coming in...kind of so-so. One common theme, though, is the fact that there was really nothing special to mark the TA sailing. Do you think this coloured the view of the writers of some of those negative reviews? My experience with cruising is relatively non-existent....and I really want to enjoy our July cruise. I am trying to keep my expectations minimal. Is it common for there to be too much hype and then some let down with a new a new ship? New to this world of cruise forums too.....

I've written some negative reviews, too...and it is usually when I am really unhappy, and maybe even a little....well, hurt...that I didn't feel like the hotel was interested in me as a customer. So I understand the view of the writers.

There were a number of people on the Transatlantic who were disappointed at the lack of anything special happening for the trip. I met one couple who really felt cheated about it.

I'm from the UK and at no point did I see NCL suggest we would get anything special. Before boarding, it was quite clear to me that nothing much would happen. However, this couple were saying that they had been promised that it would be treated as a proper inaugural and had picked the cruise for that reason.

I have no idea whether they, and others, had in fact been mislead, or whether they had jus made assumptions. It certainly seemed to cloud the opinions of some people though.

Just went to the HSN site, I don't find $100 OBC. It's showing dinner for 2 plus bottle of wine, but its looks like it only available with new bookings

by June 30th. I am already booked for October. Am I in the correct site.

So anyway in a effort to change the topic from the smoke thing... I noticed this post on twitter,

We <3 Social!@StephSabs This cruise ship only has free WiFi when you go on social networking sites..Well played #cruise #norwegianbreakaway

Does anyone know how this works? If I can use the internet for free while in a social network, I will be all over that for a better LIVE report.
