Everything Breakaway!(LIVE on 4/28)

Regarding the M6 divider issue; It so obvious as I stated, the dude installing that forward panel on 8714, I'm confident , said to his bosses, this won't hold up, but he did his job, even though he asked for six more bolts. His boss said no. No more bolts. Install as planned with three. Meanwhile installer dude is laughing now as he sees images of M6 dividers down.

 

I'll say it again, it is only that little gap that needs attention. Perhaps a rail as all others , or another type of wind break. But definitely not another divider with six bolts, as the others. Something stronger in this vulnerable spot.

 

I will be surprised if they relocate all the operable partition panels inward and install fixed panels outward. IMO all this is unnecessary if they deal with the forward wind source. In fact installing fixed panels on the outside will only encourage there departure IMO.

I do see that flying balcony dividers (and especially that gap in the railing) are unacceptable and dangerous, but were there any other problems? A few of these posts make it sound like the entire ship was about to break in half. :eek:

Hardly. The BA was made in Germany and it shows and feels that way, regardless of a few panels blown away. ;) She cut through the Atlantic at 20 knots like a dream, even during a passing powerful weather front. As long as you weren't starboard and had an M6. Lol.

 

No other issues I heard, in fact, she cut through the 25 foot seas like a true lady. Now the motion reported onboard seemed to vary widely as expected, but some reports seemed extreme to me. IOW, Reports on motion made no sense or followed the usual location pattern from my analysis. :confused:

 

Well, I will add the high seas always surprise. No such thing as a pattern out there.

 

Now the MDR's are where "any other problems" may have occurred. But I will defer to trip reports on that subject.

Several nights we checked out the line for the MDR. For the Manhattan Room the lines were long, Savoy and Taste lines were basically non-existent.

I'm guessing that's because burn the floori s in the Manhattan Room. People want to go there to see it. They may even linger after they're done dinner to continue watching. I can see how that would be a problem!

I think some people think that the Manhattan is the only dining room. We checked the nights Burn the Floor was in the theater.

On the TA there were two lines on the day we did Manhatan.

 

eaters that were getting seated

 

show only people that were being kept waiting.

I have agree. I was in cabin 10778, starboard. Didn't feel much that night. Had a beautiful rainbow outside our cabin @ 5:30. Eat dinner @ Ocean Blue around 6:30. No problem. Went to see Burn @ 9:30. Performers were great. Felt some motion after the show. However, we went to the casino. Played a few hours and returned to our cabin. No doubt it was rocking a bit. Had to pull the hangers out of the closet as they kept swaying back and forth. This was annoying. Stuck my head out to check on the weather. The railing was encrusted with salt. Went to sleep about 2am. Slept like a baby. No sickness whatsoever.

In a few weeks I will be in a port side M6. I'm looking forward to it. Actually I'm more concerned with getting a proper amount of balcony furniture than I am with flying panels. :D

I agree...I'm in an port side M6 June 9th, and my biggest concern after reading Joeski's report is that he mentioned a crew member said "These aren't supposed to be here" while removing the loungers. I'm worried that now even an accommodating steward won't be able to get loungers for fear of getting reprimanded. I watched the sailaway from Bermuda on the web cam today, straining my eyes to see if there were loungers on those balconies :D:D Anxiously awaiting reports from those returning this Sunday

Hmmm! Dawn was recently refurbished when I was on her. However, nothing beats the fealing of being on a brand new ship. I though The Breakaway was situated nicely. Really liked 6,7,8. Also, the top decks are very cool. I would buy a daily pass for Vibe on sea days in a heartbeat if available. Easy pick is Breakaway. However, doesn't mean I wouldn't cruise The Dawn again.

Hi, she is plumber22. She had set up the slotpull and poker run for us. The morning of the meet and greet her relatives came to tell us she was in ships medical facility and was stable. They med evaced her later. Last I heard the captain said she was doing good, which was great to hear.

We really loved the cruise!! The damage from the wind was fixed before we boarded. This was the first time I didn't have to use a patch for seasickness. Bermuda was absolutely beautiful!!! We would go back in a heartbeat!!!!

Just a quick note to let you all know that we arrived home utilizing our regular scheduled flights. Go for my first check up with my own cardiologist so they can check out my defibrillator/pacemaker to make sure everything is a ok at 2:00 today. We cannot express to NCL Breakaway, everyone there and thru all this journey how grateful we are. The doctors at the vascular hospital said Dr. Soto literally saved my life. If he hadn't done exactly what he did during my fatal arrthymia 10+ times that they could of not saved me. I will write about this later, just a quick thank you for now. Sorry I could not be there to carry out the games but it looked like 'he' had other plans for me.

 

Can't wait to fill like working on the computer so I can read all about this ship I never got to see.

Even though I wasn't on your sailing, I did hear about it (yes, here on cc, lol) and I am ever so glad that you are doing ok. It must have been very scary for you and your family and good to hear that you were in good hands the whole way through. Guess you must have a good guardian angel. :)

I was not on your sailing either but read about it on cc and said a prayer for you and your traveling companions. Hope all went well at your doctor's appointment. So happy you are home and doing well. It was comforting to know the lengths NCL will go to get a passenger help when needed.

Neta, So glad you took a minute to let us all know you are doing well after all you have been through. We don't often get to hear from a patient that was airlifted from a ship. I'm sorry you missed your cruise but happy you are still here to tell about it. Sending out prayers for a quick, complete recovery. <3
