hannahsmomtoo Posted August 30, 2012 #2 Share Posted August 30, 2012 Hi there. Okay, possibly stupid question....will the room steward let us use the vacuum to vacuum the air out of our space saver bags?Thank you. I read a thread once where the steward allowed that... BUT for my upcoming cruise I bought the type that can *either* be vacuumed or rolled.. just in case !

SadieN Posted August 31, 2012 #6 Share Posted August 31, 2012 Literally just used vaccuum space bags a few hours ago getting DDtheOlder off to college. Her vacuum is extremely under powered at school so I thought I'd would try getting the air out of a vacuum bag without using a vacuum. Under the cap is a thin rubber membrane over the opening. I was able to get much of the air out by holding the membrane open and smushing. It didn't get as small as using a vacuum or the travel bags but it was very respectable.
