Blowdryers on Westerdam?

We are sailing on the Westerdam to Alaska out of Seattle in a few days. The website says their blowdryers onboard are "professional quality". I've only sailed on Carnival so far and theirs are definitely NOT professional quality, you even have to hold the power button down the whole time you're using it! I've been packing my own dryer the past few cruises. Can someone who's sailed on the Westerdam tell me if the dryers are decent on there? Don't want to take up the luggage space if I don't have to... Thanks in advance!!:)

I don't have a problem with the hairdryers. But it may be a matter of how long and thick your hair is. Mine is short and ordinary.

I have thick, short hair and use a round brush to style. After a cruise of daily bad hair days, I always find room in my suitcase for my own hair dryer.

It can be the luck of the draw.

One time on the Westerdam I had a hair dryer that was poor -- another cruise on her and the one I had was powerful.

Take your own.

I've never had any complaint about the hair blowers until our most recent cruise.

I have short hair and the blowers are about 1600 watts which is more than enough for me.

 

On our June Oosterdam cruise, the blower required you hold the on button while it operates. That was horrid and I can imagine someone with arthritis in their hand would have a problem. All the others stayed on until turned off.

Thank you so much for the replies! I have long, thick hair and it takes a good hair dryer to get it dry, so I will definitely be packing my own after reading this. Thanks again!!!:)

I was on the Westerdam this year and the dryer was just fine. I have long, thick, curly, hard-to-dry hair and didn't have any trouble.

If you are picky, which many of us are, bring your own. I will leave something else out to fit my hairdrier and hair products. . ;)
