QE Lido restaurant in the evening

We sailed on QE in June but only dined in the Britannia or Veranda Restaurant, we are not big fans of buffets. It's a longer itinerary this time so are considering other dining venues too. I've seen it say that the Lido is divided up into 'speciality areas' that have waiter service - what is the food like?, is it waiter service?, what is the cover charge? Also does the 'pub' serve food in the evening? Just in case we want a slightly more relaxed dinner.

 

Lastly does the designated dress code for the evening still apply in the Lido, or would it be OK for DH to wear something a little more casual in there? Dare I say it but smart jeans and shirt?

In the Lido QE offers three venues that alternate in the evenings. These are Asado for South American fare, Aztec for Mexican and Jasmine for Asian food. The food is very good and the area is sectioned off and tablecloths are put on the tables. There is waiter service. The charge is $10 per person and reservations are necessary. And, yes, your husband can wear more casual clothing, just no shorts. The Pub is for lunch only and the food in there is delicious and authentic as is the atmosphere.

To be fair, jeans aren't really acceptable anywhere after 6pm. You can wear casual clothing in the buffet area of the Lido but in the alternate dining area elegant casual is the minimum.

 

Does the dress code apply to all areas of the ship?

The dress code applies to all areas of the ship after 6.00pm each evening.

Should you wish to dress more casually in the evening, then you will be able to dine in the Kings Court (Queen Mary 2) and Lido Restaurants (Queen Victoria & Queen Elizabeth) though you should be aware that nearly all guests adhere to the evening's dress code and this helps to set the ambience for the evening.

I have similar questions. Has anyone tried Asado on QE? Reviews? Good or not?

 

Also what is the atmosphere like in the specialty areas of the QE Lido? We had an Italian meal in the QM2 Kings Court and the food and service were excellent. But there was lots of 'walk through' passenger traffic which constantly reminded us we were in the buffet area. It detracted from the great food and service. How does QE Lido compare?
