shonandsuzie Posted September 19, 2012 Author #51 Share Posted September 19, 2012 So.. finally 760 pictures later... Pool time! Like I said before, the pool areas impressed us a bunch! Our favorite was the beach pool and we spent almost all of our pool time there. I love the design of the loungers at the beach pool. I love the shallow water that came up to the loungers so you could cool your feet. I loved the umbrellas for shade. I loved the calypso band and even the music that played when there was no band. Oh, did I mention, I LOVE THE BEACH POOL! It was not all roses though. At certain times, it was packed. I mean packed so much that we did not get in the water. Ewww. Strangers shoulder to shoulder drinking cocktails in warm water, Hmmm. TOO dangerous! Lol. I read a review before we went on this trip and a lady talked about not liking cruises much and she had a picture of an OVERfull pool. I believe her! Now, of course, there were also times when the pool was empty, too. Now on to the pictures... the basics. Main Pool: Sports Pool: Beach Pool: Beach pool on at a BUSY time: Kids Pool:
shonandsuzie Posted September 19, 2012 Author #52 Share Posted September 19, 2012 The solarium had hot (warm) tubs and a shallow wading pool. All of them were adult only and every time we went back there it was peaceful and serene. The music was quiet and calming all of the time there. One evening, we sat in a hot tub all alone and watched the sun set. Who would have thought you could be in a hot tub alone on a ship of 6000 people? One thing we prefer on Royal Caribbean are the many activities everywhere. Rock walls, mini golf, ice skating rink, basketball, zip line, table tennis, bean bag toss, flow riders, parades.......................... . shonandsuzie Posted September 19, 2012 Author #53 Share Posted September 19, 2012 Shon and Cece bet us that they would do the zipline. I really didnt think they would but.... Gary and I were bust snapping photos of our superstars!

shonandsuzie Posted September 19, 2012 Author #55 Share Posted September 19, 2012 By the way, I loved the cruise director Amy. I really did not expect to because I read a lot of bad reviews of her. We found her personable, fun and smart. We saw her all over the place and she went out of her way to be nice and talk to us. We loved her energy and humor when she opened for shows and even loved her morning show (which usually bores us to tears). She had the promenade full on sea days with her Zumba class. So hoorray for Amy!!!! I hope more people give her a chance.

She was literally all over the ship and was energetic, personable and also didn't just talk to hear her own voice which some past CD's have done..... shonandsuzie Posted September 19, 2012 Author #57 Share Posted September 19, 2012 Oh no, I'm at the end!!! I WANT MORE!!! :D. Great review No worries. I have tons to go. And I just found 200 more photos.... I have to agree with you. We were on the August 25 sailing and felt Amy did a fantastic job. She was literally all over the ship and was energetic, personable and also didn't just talk to hear her own voice which some past CD's have done..... I know exactly what you mean! The "Im so cool and funny" type. Blah. Also, it seems if the cruise director has low energy, the whole cruise is more bland. We had a bad one a couple cruises ago named bubbles or sparkles or something. OMG. Anyway, Amy was super sweet. :)
shonandsuzie Posted September 19, 2012 Author #58 Share Posted September 19, 2012 We did the crowne and anchor heli-pad sailaway once. We were too tired to go the other time... It was fun and we're glad we did it but I still prefer the lido deck "hype" sailaway. I do enjoy the way that RCCL tries to make their repeat cruisers feel special. Sometimes, it's the small things. Speaking of which, we turned "Emerald" after our first week and got the "Emerald treatment" for the second week. Not really much different from Platinum. The big changes come at Diamond which we'll probably never be... lol.
shonandsuzie Posted September 19, 2012 Author #59 Share Posted September 19, 2012 This post is pretty random in the sequence of this review but I just found these pictures from embarkation. Embarkation was, like everyone has said over and over, the easiest ever! We got to the port at roughly 1:00 and there were no lines. Service was great. We walked up to the counter, got our pics and cards and walked onto the ship. Week 2 was another story all together and I am still irritated about how the turn around day of our back to back went. Aparently, there was an issue with not enough customs workers. Well, they had 100+ B2B cruisers in the comedy club waiting to walk off and back on for the customs requirement but we couldnt actually get off until every other passenger was off. What this all led to was us all sitting in that lounge for hours. :( People were going crazy with frustration. Especially those who frequently do B2Bs because they knew how quick it could be in perfect circumstances. We only did one B2B before and that was in SJU a few years ago. That one was IDEAL. You did not even have to be bothered with meeting up or getting off of the ship on turn around day. You could just dance around in glee all day. All we did that time was go to the purser's desk and switch cards the night before the end of the cruise. I was particularly irritated that the cruiseline did nothing to say sorry for the inconvenience. Not even a little note. This may sound bratty but even when room service screwed up our little breakfast order, we got a note saying..oops and we never even dreamed of complaining about it. It was really no big deal. (We got a box of chocolate with our apology note too, actually! Lol) The table of wrist bands for the baby people. This was interesting to see in the terminal instead of in the ship: In the background is the suite guests' waiting area. Empty of course since there's no wait time at this point:

cosmar Posted September 19, 2012 #63 Share Posted September 19, 2012 Just curious, taking so many photos, you must transfer them to your computor...how do you take care of your computor while on board since there is no possibility of hiding it in the safe. spg112357 Posted September 19, 2012 #64 Share Posted September 19, 2012 Well done guys. It was great being with you all on the first week of the cruise. We are planning a big one for 2015 with the kids 4+4 spouses and the grand kids 4 at the moment could be more when we get to 2015 :-) Then My in laws so I guess I should at least book the Aquasuite and surrounding cabins or perhaps the Royal Family. We will probably do one with just My wife and I before then. Would love to cruise with you all again as you were so much fun. I really loved the Dreamworks characters and hope they still have them in 2015 as the Grandkids will love them. BTW: I love the picture of yours sons and Grandson, that are all such handsome guys!!!! Keep up the great review and hope to see you all again in the not too distant future.
goouchjac Posted September 19, 2012 #65 Share Posted September 19, 2012 Loving your review and photos....Have a question about the wrist bands for the kiddies,,,you said they are in the terminal before we board,,that's a great idea,,our family with grandaughter who is 4 will be coming with us on the Jan.19th cruise,,I remember on the FOS they were putting the wrist bands on the kids as soon as they boarded.. Anxious for all you input for the little ones as my DD is a nervous wreck leaving her DD in the kid zone,,,I keep telling her not to worry, but it runs in the family....Thanks in advance for all you can tell me...:D

Rare BillOh Posted September 19, 2012 #67 Share Posted September 19, 2012 ISo here we are; Shon and Suzie (and a fuzzy friend). This is my 22nd cruise and Shon's 20th (haha! I'm winning!) We are 40 (eek!!!) and celebrating 20 wonderful years together. I swear we're still 30 but then again, we need naps now and our knees and hips ache occassionally so maybe we are really this old... Great start, I can tell I'm going to enjoy this. Its great to see somebody that young together that long. While its getting rare in society, cruising does seem to be a place to find long married couples. (32 years when we get on Allure next year) Anyway, with Oasis Allure reviews, I can always find something new I didn't know in every review. That's one reason I read them all. Thanks! Rare BillOh Posted September 19, 2012 #68 Share Posted September 19, 2012 MORE AQUA SUITE The bathroom wasn't as fancy as I thought it would be but to be fair, there were 2 of them... My wife won't participate in a cabin crawl because she doesn't want to have to straighten up while on vacation, i guess the people in this suite didn't want to either :D

Is that alcohol? Again, what did you guys do to rate? When we were Emerald we got soda  First thing I'm doing when I get on board Allure is see the LA and find out why they don't like us...I suspect it's probably because we don't spend much onboard! I'll be on Oasis this coming weekend with DH and two other couples, and your pictures are REALLY getting me pumped!!! Speaking of the pool....are there any DJs that work the pool deck occasionally and play good dance music? How about during the late-night buffet (if there even IS one)? I love the Calypso bands, but every now and then I like a good DJ at poolside. If there was none, then I guess hubby and I will need to get our "dance fix" on at one of the clubs in the evening! Let'sGo! Posted September 19, 2012 #72 Share Posted September 19, 2012 Thank you so much for your review! My husband handpicked 11729 for our upcoming Oasis cruise, so thank you for posting pictures of your cabin and balcony. At least I know what to expect! I too want to know how you scored a couple of bottles of wine on departure day! We are Emerald members -- just a few days shy of Diamond. We get water and soda! I need to get YOUR hookup!:D Thanks again, Ann
