Some features of Carnival Sunshine

Actually, I'm interested in the new serenity area, and the new comfort food area. I admit it I'm a food porn hound. My wife is constantly cooking me diet food. I need some new food porn.

I have no idea what you are talking about with the Breeze/Magic stuff, and I'm not trying to be disrespectful to you, I'm just being honest. I guess I haven't been on that many Breeze boards, because I know I won't be booking it for a while, but I may the Sunshine. My wife won't let me drive in Miami, she says I'm too old:eek::rolleyes::(

Actually, you'd have to be a member of three different cruise boards to get the good laugh some of us do. Sorry I can't share more.

On a positive note, they are bringing back the cigar bar! Hubby would like that. We will see what the reviews are about the crowds and decide from there.

I'll check it out long enough to get a picture or two and then maybe send those clothes to the laundry.

I can't believe how many features will be on the new ship. Sunshine will be the first one will all of 2.0 and then some, me thinks.

As for food porn, we'll be on Carnival Conquest after 2.0, so that will come first.

I've also sailed on the Destiny and experienced none of your issues.

A new ship deserves a new name!

But it is NOT a new ship...it is just being renamed/refurbished

I think it is typical of the cruise industry in general...shove more people on with less space for the people:(

Sargent...we look forward to your pics of the Sunshine.

We enjoyed the one cruise we took on the Destiny years ago, and are looking forward to the new look. We have booked the weeks of January 5, 12, 19, and the 26 in 2014 on the Sunshine. Looking forward to those cruises!:)

Thank you.

Wow - a b2b2b2b. The most we have done is a b2b2b which ended up being 24 days.

That is a great way to spend the entire month! We will be joining you the week of the 19th. WE have a group of 8 couples booked currently and couldn't be more excited about the NEW ship. I learned a long time ago that a cruise is as fun or as miserable as you make it. I like to look at reviews of ships for pictures but to base your opinion of something on someone elses opinion seems crazy to me. We will be on Destiny this coming January and then Sunshine the following January and couldn't be more excited about both!

I sailed on the Destiny this past August, and didn't experience the over overcrowdedness that I keep reading about.....maybe I was just too happy being on my 1st cruise to notice. I plan on sailing on the Sunshine and hope to get the same cabin as before.

Be careful. I understand the numbers are changing!

Okay, you say a new ship deserves a new name, but it is more like a ship with a bad name is getting a name change.

I don't know about this Sunshine thing.

The food options sound a bit too much like the food court at the mall.

I am going with the people who are giving it a wait and see.

And since they closed Mobile, New Orleans is our only "drivable" port.

I kind of hate seeing this frankenstein ship ship stuck in there.

Conquest was looking kind of grubby in April, but at least Conquest is a sure thing.

The Conquest is getting upgraded in a few weeks. I will be sailing on her in December and will post pictures!!

We are booked on the US inaugural sailing out of New Orleans. We are excited to sail the Sunshine. We have been on the Destiny and will again in January 2013. We did not find any of the issues some others have mentioned. As someone else " A cruise is what you make of it."

What will happen to the staff/crew when the Destiny goes in for her makeover, will they be assigned to other ships or will they be sent home until the Sunshine sails?

It varys. During other dry docks, they put the folks to work who want to stay on the ship. My waiter told me he helped make all new tables for the dining room and they replaced all the tables. .. not that you could tell with table clothes on them.

Im sure you can go home if you want or some will change to other ships and some stay on and work during the dry dock.

I imagine the senior officers or their replacements will be around to make sure the work is done correctly. The others will either be on vacation or redeployed.

I sailed on the Destiny in May of 2011 - Eastern Caribbean & have a Med. cruise booked on the Sunshine for May of 2013....how cool is that!! Can't wait for the new ship as well as these ports of call. I hope to write a review (with comparisons of the ship) next year. I can tell you this, there is so much more planning for the Med. cruise compared to the Caribbean.
