scottbee Posted September 22, 2012 #2 Share Posted September 22, 2012 Not familiar with San Diego, and need to find a clean hotel , near the cruise terminal, which has a shuttle service, to the airport..... thanks. downtown San Diego is very compact. The cruise terminal is about 1/2 way between the old downtown core and the airport, but that being said, it's probably under 5 km from the airport to downtown, and 2½km from the airport to the cruise docks. A taxi will never be more than $15. It's not spread out in the same way that Cassidy to Woodgrove is....
SadieN Posted September 22, 2012 #3 Share Posted September 22, 2012 Hotels in San Diego do not have shuttles but as Scottbee says the city is very compact. There is a hotel across the parking lot from the pier. It's either a HIlton or a Holiday Inn. Someone will chime in with the name of the hotel. We like to stay in the Old Town area, even stayed at some of the hotels that back up to the 5 with no problems. We avoid anything on Hotel Circle as that's not too convenient without a car. When you fly into San Diego you will see the pier just to the south of the airport. It would take a crow a minute to fly from one to the other. riffatsea Posted September 22, 2012 #4 Share Posted September 22, 2012 As mentioned above the cruise port and airport are barely 2miles apart! The Holiday Inn San Diego ON THE Bay is directly across the street from the cruise terminal. It DOES have a free shuttle to the airport but a taxi will also be quite inexpensive. The Best Western Bayside is also a very short distance away.It offers free breakfast AND a free airport shuttle. There are other possibilities nearby since the cruise port is right in downtown San Diego.

Putterdude Posted September 27, 2012 #6 Share Posted September 27, 2012 We stayed at the Best Western Bayside Inn in December. It offers a free shuttle to and from both the airport and the pier. Nice little hotel, conveniently located about 4 blocks from the cruise terminal. The lobby is a bit dated but the rooms are large, updated, clean and quiet. Great little Italian restaurant kitty corner to the hotel, called Petrini's, moderately priced but ranked very high in restaurant ratings.
HamburgAvonLady Posted September 27, 2012 #7 Share Posted September 27, 2012 We are staying here next week for 2 nites prior to our cruise. They offer FREE shuttle from airport to the hotel and cruise pier -- also complimentary breakfast each day. If you are usind a car -- you can also park it there in a 24 hr. secured/ covered garage for your entire cruise. Not across from the pier but much cheaper than Holiday Inn at the Bay. DaveOKC Posted September 27, 2012 #8 Share Posted September 27, 2012 The Holiday Inn (be sure you get the correct one) across the street is a nice place and VERY convenient. Behind it and one short block to the left is a Hampton (ask for a front facing room as there are trains that run until about 11 PM benid the hotel). I have stayed at both places and both are fine. Hampton is a bit cheaper and has free breakfast. Both have great airport shuttle service and both will take you to the pier (and I assume pick you up there), but it is an easy walk to either.
