Anyone got a recomendation for a nice beach, with chair and umbrella rentals and food, near the cruises ship? A short taxi ride would be fine also. We will be there on a Sunday so we want to avoid large crowds, if possible.

Hi, we are going to be there in feb and it is our 1st time. but we are going to the Boatyard. not far from the ship..$12 admission includes chair/ umbrella and taxi ride back to ship. check it out. there is everything there.

Boatyard is near the north end of Carlisle Bay. Do a Google Image search - it's an amazing mile-long stretch of paradise...

There are a few other bars along the beach. Carlisle Bay ends at Needham's Point to the south, right at the Hilton.

If you're looking for a great fish sandwich, check out Cuz' fish shack at Needham's Point.

Cheers, P:)

Thanks. The boat yard it will be. We've been to Barbados twice before but always toured the island and caves. We're looking forward to just chilling at the beach. We'll be there in Jan. The ship has a tour for $29, but it's either too late or too early. Anyway, we'll grab a cab $4/pp and pay the $12 admission and get the free cab back toi the ship, on our time schedule, and save $26 to boot. LOL. LOL

The tiki hut that you get your free drink has good food also. Very nice place to chill. We did not walk down the beach but there are other places. Lobster Alive was next door. It looked like a shack but gets some good reviews on trip advisor.

The beach is close enough to see your ship.

We have been to Lobster Alive, and the Boatyard. They are about the same. We paid less money for our chairs at Lobster Alive, and they have clean bathrooms. Also, they have some of the very largest Lobsters on display that I have ever seen. They were 2, 3 or even 4 lbs each! Huge. Depends on just what you want for your day. I prefer a little more quiet. The Boatyard tends to get very busy when cruise ships are in port.

This stretch of beach is absolutely gorgeous! We will be back the February, and are looking at just going to the beach. Not sure if we will just walk back over to Carlisle Bay (which we usually do), or try out one of the other beaches. Then, we will have to figure out if we want to go to another beach, and which one! decisions, decisions. . . . .

If you're looking for something a little different, you can always check out Accra or Rockley. They are about 10-15 minutes south of Carlisle Bay (by bus) right on Hwy.7. Very quick and easy to get to...

Cheers, P:)

We love the Boatyard...the swing off the pier is awesome....the food, drinks, and service are top notch...the pre-paid ride back is well worth the $12.00 pp. The sand is soft..not like a powder but still very soft..trampoline and ice burg right off the shore to climb on..

Yes, you can walk it - but it seems long in the tropical sun... You might want to start out walking to see how your doing - - you won't have any shortage of taxi's stopping by as you walk to gove you a ride. Once you get away from the peer - it'll cost about $2.00 a person (if they quote more - ask for it - - they - or someone will do it). After we were done with our day at Lobster A (& pooped) - we were offered a $5.00 per person trip back - I told them that we were going to head out because roadside we were getting $2.00 offers. She grabbed it - and off we went ~

PS: We chose to walk the whole way to Lobster A, it took maybe 20-30 minutes

PS: Note that the last couple blocks don't have good sidewalks along the road - so be careful ~
