Is there anywhere on the Lido deck you can smoke

Yes, rules do state that, but somebody forgot to tell the staff because it was def not enforced. We always smoke in designated areas and even then if its bothering someone we move.

Smoking rules are like driving rules, people do what suites them, I see non-smokers cutting people off, not using blinkers and running red lights, but that's not what the "rules" are.

So their "smoking kills" arguement doesn't fly with me cause not following driving rules can kill me too. :D:p:rolleyes:

Happy Sailing,

Forgot to tell the staff?? So you mean they were smoking in non smoking areas?? Ugh to that. Not enforced??

if that keeps up it is only likely that stricter rules will be in place

Freedom was a very well run ship....the first time I never saw people smoking in non smoking areas.....NO one puffing away at the NON smoking serenity deck (which I have seen before)...no one smoking at the aft NON smoking pool...it was really nice

The only "culprit" I saw was the lady I posted about who had her ashtray taken away and was sternly warned she was on "Notice"

I hope the other ships follow Freedom's example

Are there bars that allow smoking on Dream? Half of the group we're sailing with are smokers. Any place to enjoy a cigar?

The lanai on the Dream is a good place to enjoy a smoke. It is right outside the doors from the area the Blackjack band plays. The area is covered with tables and also by the rail there are some good seating areas that you can smoke at. Just back inside the door is a bar and the staff will bring a drink to you

Hope this helps

E -cigs they were, although no one seem to care. Another cruiser a couple weeks after us also noticed on her Paradise cruise people were actually smoking (real cigs) on both sides of Lido and around the pools & jacuzzi's. Not sure why its allowed on some cruises and not others.

Not that I found on the Liberty. It was no big deal to go up one deck though. My group had no problems with this and actually enjoyed watching and listening from a little bit quieter spot than the main area on Lido. We usually were near the DJ.

Here's a tip for you smokers with an upcoming cruise on the Liberty ( and probably any of the other ships that have had the 2.0 upgrade). When you reach the top of the stairs to deck 10, light up BEFORE you step out of the plexiglass enclosure. It's tough to light up when you're standing out in the wind, unless you have a wind-proof lighter.

On our cruise, the wind was soooo bad. We used the outdoor shower stall that's under the overhang. this area is directly above Guy Burgers.

This makes a lot of sense to send smokers up where it is so windy that the ashes can fly off the cigarette however we should have known it was coming when they made us go outside in the weather to enjoy a cigar.

Usually one side of the deck by the pool is a smoking area . Some ships also have a smoking area on the aft deck.

I believe the OP is refering to the fact that this is changing once the Conquest class ships get the 2.0.

Smoking will be on deck 10 on the Starboard side...but no longer allowed on Lido at all..not even by the pool.

The Paradise does not have the 2.0 upgrade.

Even on the Paradise, smoking is "suppose" to only be on the Starboard side.

Sounds like some cruisers were just not following the rules.

The Splendor works out fine because it has a covered area with comfortable chairs and a hot tub on Deck 10.

These are provisions that Carnival should have added in the 2.0 make over when they decided no more smoking on Lido.

On the Dream...interior locations are the Disco (nightclub as they are calling it now) and marked areas of the casino.

Exterior...there is a very nice area just outside the Casino / Red Frog Pub with comfy chairs for cigs AND Cigars.
