Is there anywhere on the Lido deck you can smoke

helicopter

Recommended Posts

Not that I found on the Liberty. It was no big deal to go up one deck though. My group had no problems with this and actually enjoyed watching and listening from a little bit quieter spot than the main area on Lido. We usually were near the DJ.

I bring a electronic cigarette , I smoke it everywhere on the ship, even at dinner, and the casino. Never once did anyone complain about it. No smell , just water vapor. Give it a try

I most certainly would if I saw it.

If smokers have to excuse themselves to smoke where it is allowed so do e-smokers.

Thems the rules as stated in the cruise contract and FAQ's.

E-cigs were smoked on the Paradise in place real cigs were not, it did not bother any non-smokers and saw no complaints. I'm sure though there is always someone who has to try to complain, just human nature to try and make someone else follow "their" rules. You'll be fine in finding places to smoke, after all CCL knows we tend to drink the most($$$$$), lol, but THAT'S another thread! :D:p

Why would anyone complain about an e-smoke? It doesn't even smoke??

EXACTLY, but you know there always has to be ONE. :(

I vap (never say e-smoke, that drives the ignorant nuts) with my e-cig openly in restaurants, airports and, with stealth, on an airplane. Never ever had a problem. No fire, no smoke, and no odor, plus save a ton of money. I'm sure that with the problem SOLVED, this drives some people bonkers. They're usually the ones with the ungodly vomit-inducing perfume or, as they may call it, toilet water.;)

Not 'my' rules but the cruise line rules.

Can I smoke E-Cigarettes?

Electronic cigarettes or e-cigarettes are only allowed in the designated smoking areas.

You make it sound like you openly use an e cig like a regular cig, taking multiple minutes to "smoke" one. I think it's safe to assume you merely pull one out for a drag or so. I don't think I would personally pull one out in the DR.

What is the smoking policy?

Effective June 15, 2011, cigarette smoking in public venues will only be permitted in Carnival’s dance clubs as well as in designated areas within the casino and casino bar.

Smoking (including cigars) will be permitted in designated exterior open deck areas (starboard side) of all our ships. Additionally, smoking will also be allowed in the jazz clubs of the following ships: Carnival Destiny, Carnival Triumph, Carnival Victory, Carnival Spirit, Carnival Pride, Carnival Legend, Carnival Miracle, Carnival Conquest, Carnival Glory, Carnival Valor, Carnival Liberty, Carnival Freedom, and Carnival Splendor.

* All Spa Suites and Staterooms, inclusive of the balconies, are an entirely smoke-free environment. Spa suites and staterooms are on the following ships only: Carnival Splendor, Carnival Dream, Carnival Breeze and Carnival Sunshine.

* Effective December 1, 2011, smoking will be prohibited in all guest staterooms. Guests in balcony staterooms may smoke (including cigars) outside on their balcony.

Guests who smoke in their staterooms will be assessed a $250 USD cleaning and refreshing fee on their Sail & Sign account. Information on this fee is included in Carnival’s ticket contract.

Note: Electronic cigarettes or e-cigarettes are only allowed in the designated smoking areas.

Not on the SPLENDOR, but as bdj says, Deck 10 is fine. Great place to have a cigar, cig or, in my case, an e-cig overlooking the Aft Pool. Spend hours up there playing gin and enjoying the view. :D

Hi Gary. Two questions please. The Splendor has not had the 2.0 upgrades, so not understanding why you cannot smoke on the lido deck like all of the other ships. Are you sure?

Second...if you are correct and you have to go to the 10th deck, is there shade and coverage.....hubby hates sitting under the sun.

Thank you so much:o

In the dining room?? I think an e-cigarette in the dining room is gross...

I don't care if it smells

I don't have any objection to them other places....but dining room is pushing it

I don't want to look at someone sucking a pacifier during dinner either (unless they are in a stroller or high chair) haha

Common sense is not common anymore. Guess that is why Carnival continues their (unreasonable) rules for the e-cigs

regarding smokers..I was on an inside on Freedom recently (sept 8) and saw a "smoker" chastised.....her room steward and the housekeeping supervisor and a security guy were at the cabin a few doors from us, in the hallway

they were saying " This is the 2nd time your room steward removed an ashtray from your cabin, and warned you...NO smoking in cabins"

The woman was protesting "I picked up the ashtray for my sister, she has a balcony and her room steward didn't leave her an ashtray"

They were NOT friendly in their replies...they took the ashtray from her and warned her, security told her about the $250 fine, and the "head" guy told her he would be personally checking the cabin :eek::eek:

I am sure they don't enjoy "enforcing" this stuff but they do save on deep cleaning the cabins...

Enforcing the e-cigs would be another problem....if they allow them "everywhere but the dining room" then people would still "push it"

Splendor is a different design from other Carnival ships, (was originally planned for Costa)...and has been NON smoking on Lido since it was launched.

Sorry, was not referring to your post per say, or I would have quoted you, but just in general there are alot of people on here and in my daily walk of life that do this.

Have a great day,

Yes, I know it is a Costa ship originally...and I know the layout and design. I was asking about the smoking policy. Did not realize it was on deck 10.

Yes, rules do state that, but somebody forgot to tell the staff because it was def not enforced. We always smoke in designated areas and even then if its bothering someone we move.

Smoking rules are like driving rules, people do what suites them, I see non-smokers cutting people off, not using blinkers and running red lights, but that's not what the "rules" are.

So their "smoking kills" arguement doesn't fly with me cause not following driving rules can kill me too. :D:p:rolleyes:

Yes, Susie, I am quite sure (I found out quite abruptly:rolleyes:). But there is plenty of shade on the entire Deck 10 Aft overlooking the pool, as well as other parts of Deck 10. About midships, Deck 10 goes inside to become the balcony of the main pool area. There are plenty of areas outside this entrance that is shaded and a good smoking or vaping area.:)

Incidentally, inside the Aft of deck 10 is the upper deck of the buffet, the Rotisserie area where there is always hot coffee. Many people never ever discover this area as its almost always vacant.

Earlier, I had mentioned using my e-cig in restaurants. I would never do this aboard ship as it would be much harder to be non-intrusive in the MDR. However, almost all other places, using a stealth technique, its never even noticed. If any aroma is emitted, it would depend on what flavor of e-liquid you're using. Some of my flavors smell like vanilla, apples and even bubble gum. Most people that do detect enough of the aroma to comment on it say they like it. Not to say it couldn't happen, but I have NEVER received a negative comment.:)

FWIW, there is an inside bar/entertainment venue (has a stage) called THE COOL on the SPLENDOR that allows pipe, cigar, cigarettes, and e-cigs always. The 3 times I was on the SPLENDOR there were different combos that played in here during the evening and was open for us vapers and smokers during the day. Last time, a great rock band that absolutely had QUEEN and other groups down to a "T" were playing in there in the evening (this used to be the karaoke room, which has now been moved to the aft showroom).

Hope this helps.:D

Thank you soooo much Gary. I know my husband will greatly appreciate this info. We do not care about sitting closest to the pool like a lot of people do. We usually sit in the shade, at a table, making friends, playing cards, having cocktails and an overall great time.

I appreciate all of the tips IMMENSELY:o:o:o
