surus Posted October 5, 2012 #1 Share Posted October 5, 2012 We are thinking of going deep sea fishing while in the Caribbean. (Riviera 3/28/2012) Does anyone know if the chef will prepare our catch if we are lucky enough to catch anything?

Absolutely..when my son caught fish on a recent trip, the chef prepared the three fish ...three different ways and one was better than the next!! On some boats the wages for the crew include the fish that are caught. Sailfish , Marlin and similar fish are kept as property of the captain. He will sell the fish to restaurants or other companies for resale . The proceeds will go to the crew as part of their wages.
Hawaiidan Posted October 5, 2012 #4 Share Posted October 5, 2012 Thats the way it is done here in Hawaii. The boat keeps the fish unless you make arrangements. One question is well can I just have a piece? The answer is mostly no because the fish company dosent want to have a partial fish to deal with. Has to be whole. In the Carribe and south Pacific, you should also be aware that some fish have a condition from eating off the coral that the can make you pretty sick. Locals are more or less immune, so check it out Deep sea gritters are not effected. Good luck
