wantocruisemore Posted October 9, 2012 #6 Share Posted October 9, 2012 GREAT BLOG! I'm really enjoying it! Looking forward to more comments about Venice and then Rome later since we will be there in the Spring. One thing though, I was surprised it was that crowded in Venice in Oct. I'm guessing May will be similar.

Pumbaamd Posted October 11, 2012 #9 Share Posted October 11, 2012 We also did a pre cruise tour with RCCL in Italy last year. It was a 4 day tour that started in Northern Italy. Flew in to Milan, bussed up to Stresa which is near the Italian/Swiss Alps. (http://stresasights.blogspot.com/) Spent two days there, and than two days Lake Como/Venice. Had a great time and would highly recommend it. Rick and Deirdra

Cycler48 Posted October 11, 2012 Author #13 Share Posted October 11, 2012 We're in Florence now. Thanks for the replies. It makes it all seem worthwhile. It looks like rain the next couple days. I'll try to get pics when I can, but always will describe what we did. At the end of the precruise tour I will wrap it up with the pros and cons. Very few cons, by the way. volunteer cruiser Posted October 13, 2012 #15 Share Posted October 13, 2012 I am enjoying your trip details and photos. I want to do an Italian cruisetour before a cruise just like your adventure but my daughter wants to do a tour of France after her high school graduation. Were there any teens on your tour, 17 to 19 year olds? Lucca is on my to visit list now.

Streaks Posted October 13, 2012 #17 Share Posted October 13, 2012 Great review! We did this trip over the summer in two weeks, Venice, Florence, Rome and Sorrento. Absolutely magical trip. If your in Rome now, there's a great restaurant not to far from the train station called Strega, we ate there 2 out of 3 nights we had in Rome. Delicious food! Well worth a visit if your not to far away! Looking forward to seeing some pics if Navigator, we'll be on her in two weeks :D

Cycler48 Posted October 14, 2012 Author #19 Share Posted October 14, 2012 To Volunteer: No teens on the pre-cruise. Teens on the cruise itself. Pre-cruise was fifty and above, at least on ours. We have left Civitavecchia on the way to Sicily. Lots of pics of Rome. Pics of Navigator in a day or two. Go to: http://cycler48.blogspot.com Thanks to all of you. Enjoy. wantocruisemore Posted October 15, 2012 #22 Share Posted October 15, 2012 Do you remember what street Strega is located? We've got an apartment in Rome reserved next spring that's only a couple of blocks from the train station. Great review! We did this trip over the summer in two weeks, Venice, Florence, Rome and Sorrento. Absolutely magical trip. If your in Rome now, there's a great restaurant not to far from the train station called Strega, we ate there 2 out of 3 nights we had in Rome. Delicious food! Streaks Posted October 16, 2012 #23 Share Posted October 16, 2012 Strega's address is Piazza del Viminale, 27/31, 00184 Rome. Worth a visit we really liked it. If you get directions on google maps it should bring you right to it form your apartment. We stayed in IQ hotel and this is just around the corner from it. We will be staying in IQ again next week and will be eating in Strega.. Creatures of habit ;)
