Birth Certificate in Puerto Rico

I know Puerto Rico is a US Territory but I was just wondering if anyone ever had an issue using the birth certificate boarding.

You don't need a passport to sail from San Juan. The only problem would be if you missed the ship and then you could not fly to another port - unless it was St. Thomas.

Maybe I am misunderstanding your question, but how do you think the people living in Puerto Rico board the ship?

My BF used his birth certificate when we cruised out of San Juan last year with no problems. You will be fine. Yes, yada yada you cant get home or fly to your next port with out a passport. Just be safe on shore and give your self plenty of time to get back to the ship and you should be fine.

 

ETA: You will have an AWESOME time on this itinerary!!!

What I meant was that I know that it isn't "technically" US but a territory.

I was just double checking since we had to change out a cabin mate at that last minute and she only has a birth certificate.

 

I didn't want her to spend $850.00 to fly to Puerto Rico if she was going to have a problem.
