cat c riviera closets

The closets in Cat C oceanview rooms on Riviera are the same size as the closets in the Cat B verandah and Cat A concierge rooms. There was more than enough room in the closet for the 2 of us...I mean for our clothes. :D

sailing on Riviera 6/6/13 Cat C and was wondering about the closets in that cabin' date=' we will be 3 ppl[/quote']

It will of course depend on how much clothes you take

I will double hang things if I overpack but there is plenty of space for 2 people's clothes

If you need more hangers ask your steward

We thought that the closets were reasonably sized, if sometimes awkward to get to.

HINT: If you want the bed set up as two twin beds, by all means leave them pushed together (with a nightstand on either side) as any other configuration blocks the closet doors.

It is the drawers in those staterooms which may be a problem for three. There are plenty of them, but due to the scale of the built in furniture, they don't hold much.

HINT: Hanging Toiletry bags can be a Godsend.

Otherwise, those Oceanview Rooms are gloriously light and airy......you'll love being in one!

Greetings JimandStan!

Been enjoying your many pictures and wonderful advice. Have been a Regent cruiser and am looking to try out Oceania...but yiks, those closets...well I just need to remind myself that this in not Regent and to pack lighter :)

How far up the "food chain" do I need to go to have a cabin nearest to Regents Deluxe Standard Cabin??

The nearest comparison (and remember, the ships vary on both lines) is to an Oceania Penthouse, however, these are significantly nicer on the larger ships.

We were three in a Marina stateroom in the Caribbean - two women and one man (my sister and my husband) and we had sufficient space. We did have to parcel out the drawers evenly and our stuff wasn't always logically arranged, but it worked. And when there were just two of us on the Baltic, we had all these empty drawers!

Hi Jim & Stan,

Thanks for the advice and the pictures. We will be sailing for the first time on Oceania 2/2/13 on the Riviera in a Cat. C. I saw your above picture and have a question - I notice that you can see the lifeboat outside your window. I was hoping you wouldn't see them. Did you find it annoying/bothersome to always see them?

Also, I have heard that you are able to take a shower in either the seperate shower or in the tub and that they did increase the size of the partition in the tub so water wasn't an issue - did you find that to be the case?

We have booked several excursions through O (just find it easier) and have one Culinary Class booked. Waiting (impatiently) to reserve specialty dining reservations. Did you experience any problems with all the open seating - did you have to wait long for a table in the MDR or Terrace Cafe?

Any additional advise for a first time O cruiser would be greatly appreciated. We are really looking forward to the cruise.

Thank you! B:) & C:D

The angle of that last photo may be the culprit here, as the lifeboats are not noticeable, unless you are standing near to the window and looking down. To us, those rooms seemed very bright, airy, and "felt" very spacious because of that huge wall of glass.

Yes, one may now shower in the bathtub without fear of wetting the floor

The Open Seating set up is HEAVEN, we never had to wait more than five minutes, even when we entered with a group of twelve.

I've never entered that Dining Room when there weren't more than half a dozen people who were only seating people. Most times, we never even paused, just continued walking directly to our table.

The Terrace is self seating, so it is more a case of finding "that perfect table" in the area where you want to sit.

Hope this helped, please enjoy your first Oceania Cruise. You really have a treat in store.

In regard to the Cat C cabins, do you HEAR any noises from the lifeboats...rocking, clanging...etc?

Thanks for the pix JimandStan, I was also wondering what that cabin looked like.

My pleasure, Cathy ;)

You won't hear anything at all, I mean zero sounds, while the Boats are stowed away and not in use.

If the Boats are deployed, as they sometimes are to act as Tenders, you will hear them being raised and lowered. That process usually takes about half an hour in each direction.

This is the relationship of the Oceanview windows to the boats from the outside:

072345.jpg It should be noted that the "Juliet Balcony" railings, which were installed on Marina have not been repeated on the Riviera.

Hi Jim and Stan,

Thank you so much for all your helpful information it is really appreciated. Also we found your information about the Juliet Balcony railings also very interesting. It appears to be a much improved look on the Riviera with out the little railings - much better viewing. We can't wait. Any other bits of information would be appreciated. Did you take any of the cooking classes? And of all the restuarants which was your favorite and why? Only 110 days till we sail!!

Thanks again! B :) & C :D

We did take cooking classes, and they are WONDERFUL! Be careful though, they are also very filling, you'll wind up eating the fruit of your efforts AS WELL AS tasting a good many "ingredients" as you go.

For that reason, we always recommend that people NOT book a Specialty Restaurant on the same day as a cooking class.

Of the four restaurants, Red Ginger is our favorite. The Miso glazed Sea Bass as they prepare it, is probably the single best thing that I have ever eaten on a ship.

The Lobster Pad Thai is also pretty terrific, as is the Duck & Watermelon Salad (which I still dream about).

I could even make a meal of just the appetizers...-the Beef Carpacio, Crispy Ginger Calamari, and the Caramelized Tiger Prawns.

Oh, and the Sushi is amazing too!

Take my advice, skip lunches for a month and then go crazy :D

Just back, two women travelling together. The problem is not the size of the closet, it's the access to it. Whether you keep the beds together or pull them apart, there is only enough floor space between the lengthwise the edge of the bed and the closet for one person.

My friend wanted the bed closest to the bathroom as she knew she would get up for the the bathroom several times in the night. Seemed sensible. But what it meant for me was that when I needed access to our closet, I had to go along the side of her bed to get my stuff. Unless I wanted to disturb her repeatedly as she dressed and took things from the closet, I had to plan my closet visits to collect all the items I would need and bring them around to my opposite side of both beds to get dressed. If I forgot something, I needed to go back along her side of the bed to get to the closet (and she had to get out of my way while I did so). This is a higher level of planning and organization than I wish to adhere to on my vacation.

I take out my clothes (and hubbys) for the next day and hang it on the hooks that are outside the closet. I know that the drawers are also inside the closet, but you could put undies etc. in a drawer in the vanity. This might eliminate waking someone up who sleeps near the closet. Just a thought.

Where are the hooks outside the closet??

Is this something new:confused:

I did not notice any on our Marina cruise

I did not have a problem but I do prefer the closets in the hall like the R-ships but you run the risk of getting clobbered if someone is coming out of the loo when you are at the closet ;)

I guess we all need the walkin closets like in the PH

  • 3 months later...

We are about to book our first Riviera cruise, never having been on Oceania before. We notice is is in proximity to the casino - has anyone heard any noise from chairs or machines at night?

We are thinking of booking the transatlantic out of Miami in April and are very excited to try Riviera!

You can barely move the chairs so doubt if you would hear any noise

We were down the hall over the GDR on Marina never heard a peep

You may hear the lifeboats lowering in the C cabins since they are just below you
