5326jan Posted January 14, 2013 #51 Share Posted January 14, 2013 Years ago while sitting in one of the bars we looked out and floating in the ocean was a Refrigerator, just floating all alone!!! Yikes!!! That could do some damage to a hull!
lady_cruiser Posted January 14, 2013 #52 Share Posted January 14, 2013 A U.S. Coast Guard cutter docked in Cozumel. There is nothing pretty than seeing a U.S. Flag fluttering in the wind when you are in a foreign country.
lady_cruiser Posted January 14, 2013 #53 Share Posted January 14, 2013 This is a great thread with some awesome pictures. Sadly, I've never seen anything but water and other ships out there. Maybe someday... But isn't it nice to be able to be at sea even if you don't see anything but waves.
narrow56 Posted January 14, 2013 #54 Share Posted January 14, 2013 But isn't it nice to be able to be at sea even if you don't see anything but waves. It really is! It's so mesmerizing watching the waves and not being able to see anything for miles and miles.
tigercat Posted January 15, 2013 #55 Share Posted January 15, 2013 In the middle of the Pacific Ocean going from Vancouver to Hawaii a bright coloured beach ball floated by. There were no other ships anywhere around us at the time so we were never sure where it came from. tigercat
Mizzouaholic Posted January 16, 2013 #56 Share Posted January 16, 2013 We picked up a raft full of cubans on the Carnival Conquest. Apparently they were trying to make the short ride from Cuba to Florida, the only problem was that our ship left from New Orleans and was sailing to Cozumel. As you can tell they were about 6-700 miles off course!
megessey Posted January 16, 2013 #57 Share Posted January 16, 2013 Our first aft cabin, on our first night we were watching the wake on our balcony and there were 3 water funnels....... they looked like tornadoes chasing us. Quite exciting and scary at the same time.
sbroc012 Posted January 16, 2013 #58 Share Posted January 16, 2013 Yikes!!! That could do some damage to a hull! That wouldn't even put a ding in the hull! It would just bounce off the ship!

Beachdude Posted January 16, 2013 #61 Share Posted January 16, 2013 Wow, that is some pretty interesting stuff. The best I can think of is a 20 foot Manta Ray that surficed in front of us just before leaving port. Burt

Taxguy77 Posted January 17, 2013 #64 Share Posted January 17, 2013 On NCL we were unable to stop in Ecuador, so we cruised out to sea for a day before going to Lima. One AM there were too HUGE pods of dolphins, one on each side of the ship. It was so unusual, the Capt. used the full speaker (In room and out) at 8AM to tell people to look at them. He said with over 80 years at sea experience the officers on the bridge had never seen anything like it! Several years later we were at a party on another ship when I saw the same Capt. I mentioned wwe had been on the Crown that time, and he turned and told the other officers about the extraordinary event. PS: The NCL Crown was the nicest (Most comfortable) ship we have been on. Six months later they moved it to the Orient line, then ack to be the smallest ship at NCL, then to somewhere else. Last I heard, it had been stretched a second time and was still at sea.
