Verizon Ipad Global Data- Anyone?

Has anyone tried the Verizon Global Data plan with their Ipad-3 on Celebrity? I will be on Infinity. I've read where this is now a data plan (part of the new pricing/plan structure) that works on Celebrity. As I understand, this is not the wifi through the ship, but the data plan via the Verizon ship-at-sea connection. I am trying to figure out a way to check work email once a day and know that I can't connect via the ship's internet/wifi?

Haven't heard of this. I would check with Verizon. I just use the ship's internet.

Why couldn't you use the ship wifi fi if you needed to?

I suspect any data plan will be more expensive than simply purchasing WiFi on the ship. Your iPad will be able to connect to the ship's WiFi, no problem.

 

The most cost effective solution is to use the Mail app on the iPad, not the web browser. You'll log on, download emails, then log off. Take your time reading and composing replies. Then log on, upload emails, log off. Using this method it's easy to use less than 30 minutes of WiFi during a seven day cruise.
