jpinperth Posted October 28, 2012 #1 Share Posted October 28, 2012 Hello fellow cruisers, Just a quick question. Does anyone know if someone travelling on a British passport but is a resident of Canada with a Canadian citizenship card, will require addtional documentation IE a visa for travel on a cruise that only visits the US and Canada? Many thanks JP
indigosails Posted October 28, 2012 #2 Share Posted October 28, 2012 It doesn't sound like it. But it might not hurt to visit the Canadian Passport website.
celle Posted October 28, 2012 #3 Share Posted October 28, 2012 Hello fellow cruisers,Just a quick question. Does anyone know if someone travelling on a British passport but is a resident of Canada with a Canadian citizenship card, will require addtional documentation IE a visa for travel on a cruise that only visits the US and Canada? Many thanks JP If you had 2 passports,I can't see why it would cause a problem - but I'm not the expert. However, it sounds as though you don't yet have a Canadian passport. I have dual nationality and citizenship and two passports. I choose which passport to use, depending on where I am travelling. If using one passport (and nationality) I don't feel any need to declare the other passport. As for the visa question - if you travel as a UK citizen, you will need to obtain an ESTA in advance, to visit the US. I'm not sure what the situation is concerning your Canadian citizenship - can you enter the US by showing your Canadian citizenship card? I'd be inclined to seek some official advice. jpinperth Posted October 28, 2012 Author #4 Share Posted October 28, 2012 Thanks for the reply, I will do a bit of official checking, I am thinking that an ESTA would be the way to go along with the UK passport.

Many thanks JP If you don't have a Canadian passport, and are traveling with a UK passport, yes, you'll need to complete a ESTA application to enter the US if you are flying here and you don't want to obtain a visa. A Canadian Citizenship certificate is not a travel document.
jocap Posted October 30, 2012 #6 Share Posted October 30, 2012 Make sure you go on to the official USA ESTA web site....it used to cost $14, but there were other web sites charging more for it.
