On the Conquest class and similar classes, Empress has room below and above it. So you have a quieter deck. I try to get rooms on Empress if possible.

Great deck to book on! We always try to be sandwiched between passenger decks. As far as forward, aft or midship - that is personal preference. We usually try to get midship- but have also been forward and aft, and have had no complaints.
