My DH trims his away from under is nose slightly he found that more effective than vaseline. Actually, a captain on one of our excursions recommended the trim thing.

 

I've tried that too but if I trim enough to get a good seal, there's not much left and it looks terrible. I've had great success using Vaseline.

I tried once with the mustache and nearly drowned. Last time I shaved the whole thing off and had a great time. Maybe my 'stache is just too manly!
